(217) They ask you about the sacred month - about fighting therein. Say, "Fighting therein is great [sin], but averting [people] from the way of Allah and disbelief in Him and [preventing access to] al-Masjid al-Haram and the expulsion of its people therefrom are greater [evil] in the sight of Allah. And fitnah is greater than killing." And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able. And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally.
(218) Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah - those expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

He said, "Would you perhaps refrain from fighting if fighting was prescribed for you?" They said, "And why should we not fight in the cause of Allah when we have been driven out from our homes and from our children?" But when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away, except for a few of them. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers.
Surah: Al-Baqarah - Verse: 246  - Juz: 2 - Page: 40

(146) And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.
Surah: Āl-‘Imrān - Verse: 146  - Juz: 4 - Page: 68
(154) Then after distress, He sent down upon you security [in the form of] drowsiness, overcoming a faction of you, while another faction worried about themselves, thinking of Allah other than the truth - the thought of ignorance, saying, "Is there anything for us [to have done] in this matter?" Say, "Indeed, the matter belongs completely to Allah." They conceal within themselves what they will not reveal to you. They say, "If there was anything we could have done in the matter, some of us would not have been killed right here." Say, "Even if you had been inside your houses, those decreed to be killed would have come out to their death beds." [It was] so that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purify what is in your hearts. And Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts.

(77) Have you not seen those who were told, "Restrain your hands [from fighting] and establish prayer and give zakah"? But then when fighting was ordained for them, at once a party of them feared men as they fear Allah or with [even] greater fear. They said, "Our Lord, why have You decreed upon us fighting? If only You had postponed [it for] us for a short time." Say, The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah. And injustice will not be done to you, [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed]."
Surah: An-Nisā’ - Verse: 77  - Juz: 5 - Page: 90
(84) So fight, [O Muhammad], in the cause of Allah; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers [to join you] that perhaps Allah will restrain the [military] might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is greater in might and stronger in [exemplary] punishment.
Surah: An-Nisā’ - Verse: 84  - Juz: 5 - Page: 91

(102) And when you are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand [in prayer] with you and let them carry their arms. And when they have prostrated, let them be [in position] behind you and have the other group come forward which has not [yet] prayed and let them pray with you, taking precaution and carrying their arms. Those who disbelieve wish that you would neglect your weapons and your baggage so they could come down upon you in one [single] attack. But there is no blame upon you, if you are troubled by rain or are ill, for putting down your arms, but take precaution. Indeed, Allah has prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.
Surah: An-Nisā’ - Verse: 102  - Juz: 5 - Page: 95
(54) O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
Surah: Al-Mā’idah - Verse: 54  - Juz: 6 - Page: 117
(15) O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve advancing [for battle], do not turn to them your backs [in flight].
(16) And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allah, and his refuge is Hell - and wretched is the destination.
Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 15-16 - Juz: 9 - Page: 178
(20) O you who have believed, obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn from him while you hear [his order].

(26) And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful.
Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 26  - Juz: 9 - Page: 180
(39) And fight them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion, all of it, is for Allah. And if they cease - then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do.
(40) But if they turn away - then know that Allah is your protector. Excellent is the protector, and Excellent is the helper.
Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 39-40 - Juz: 9 - Page: 181
(46) And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.
Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 46  - Juz: 10 - Page: 183
(48) And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector." But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed I fear Allah. And Allah is severe in penalty."
Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 48  - Juz: 10 - Page: 183

Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 57  - Juz: 10 - Page: 184
(66) Now, Allah has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast.
Surah: Al-Anfāl - Verse: 66  - Juz: 10 - Page: 185
(7) How can there be for the polytheists a treaty in the sight of Allah and with His Messenger, except for those with whom you made a treaty at al-Masjid al-Haram? So as long as they are upright toward you, be upright toward them. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him].
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 7  - Juz: 10 - Page: 188
(16) Do you think that you will be left [as you are] while Allah has not yet made evident those among you who strive [for His cause] and do not take other than Allah, His Messenger and the believers as intimates? And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 16  - Juz: 10 - Page: 189
(20) The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah. And it is those who are the attainers [of success].
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 20  - Juz: 10 - Page: 189
(22) [They will be] abiding therein forever. Indeed, Allah has with Him a great reward.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 22  - Juz: 10 - Page: 190
(29) Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 29  - Juz: 10 - Page: 191
(38) O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah, you adhere heavily to the earth? Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little.
(39) If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment and will replace you with another people, and you will not harm Him at all. And Allah is over all things competent.
(40) If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us." And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
(41) Go forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah. That is better for you, if you only knew.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 38-39-40-41 - Juz: 10 - Page: 193
(73) O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 73  - Juz: 10 - Page: 199
(111) Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 111  - Juz: 11 - Page: 204
(120) It was not [proper] for the people of Madinah and those surrounding them of the bedouins that they remain behind after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah or that they prefer themselves over his self. That is because they are not afflicted by thirst or fatigue or hunger in the cause of Allah, nor do they tread on any ground that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they inflict upon an enemy any infliction but that is registered for them as a righteous deed. Indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of the doers of good.
Surah: At-Taubah - Verse: 120  - Juz: 11 - Page: 206
(110) Then, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to renounce their religion] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allah] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful
Surah: An-Naḥl - Verse: 110  - Juz: 14 - Page: 279
(39) Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory.
(40) [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Surah: Al-Ḥajj - Verse: 39-40 - Juz: 17 - Page: 337
(58) And those who emigrated for the cause of Allah and then were killed or died - Allah will surely provide for them a good provision. And indeed, it is Allah who is the best of providers.
Surah: Al-Ḥajj - Verse: 58  - Juz: 17 - Page: 339
(78) And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.
Surah: Al-Ḥajj - Verse: 78  - Juz: 17 - Page: 341
(67) Have they not seen that We made [Makkah] a safe sanctuary, while people are being taken away all around them? Then in falsehood do they believe, and in the favor of Allah they disbelieve?
Surah: Al-‘Ankabūt - Verse: 67  - Juz: 21 - Page: 404
(16) Say, [O Muhammad], "Never will fleeing benefit you if you should flee from death or killing; and then [if you did], you would not be given enjoyment [of life] except for a little."
(17) Say, "Who is it that can protect you from Allah if He intends for you an ill or intends for you a mercy?" And they will not find for themselves besides Allah any protector or any helper.
Surah: Al-Aḥzāb - Verse: 16-17 - Juz: 21 - Page: 420
(21) There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.
(22) And when the believers saw the companies, they said, "This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth." And it increased them only in faith and acceptance.
Surah: Al-Aḥzāb - Verse: 21-22 - Juz: 21 - Page: 420
(25) And Allah repelled those who disbelieved, in their rage, not having obtained any good. And sufficient was Allah for the believers in battle, and ever is Allah Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Surah: Al-Aḥzāb - Verse: 25  - Juz: 21 - Page: 421
(4) So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah - never will He waste their deeds.
(5) He will guide them and amend their condition
(6) And admit them to Paradise, which He has made known to them.
(7) O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.
Surah: Muḥammad - Verse: 4-5-6-7 - Juz: 26 - Page: 507
(20) Those who believe say, "Why has a surah not been sent down? But when a precise surah is revealed and fighting is mentioned therein, you see those in whose hearts is hypocrisy looking at you with a look of one overcome by death. And more appropriate for them [would have been]
(21) Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them.
(22) So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your [ties of] relationship?
(23) Those [who do so] are the ones that Allah has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision.
(24) Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
Surah: Muḥammad - Verse: 20-21-22-23-24 - Juz: 26 - Page: 509
(31) And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allah] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.
Surah: Muḥammad - Verse: 31  - Juz: 26 - Page: 510
(35) So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.
Surah: Muḥammad - Verse: 35  - Juz: 26 - Page: 510
(4) It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allah Knowing and Wise.
Surah: Al-Fatḥ - Verse: 4  - Juz: 26 - Page: 511
(7) And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.
Surah: Al-Fatḥ - Verse: 7  - Juz: 26 - Page: 511
(18) Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest
Surah: Al-Fatḥ - Verse: 18  - Juz: 26 - Page: 513
(27) Certainly has Allah showed to His Messenger the vision in truth. You will surely enter al-Masjid al-Haram, if Allah wills, in safety, with your heads shaved and [hair] shortened, not fearing [anyone]. He knew what you did not know and has arranged before that a conquest near [at hand].
Surah: Al-Fatḥ - Verse: 27  - Juz: 26 - Page: 514
(10) And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. And Allah, with what you do, is Acquainted.
Surah: Al-Ḥadīd - Verse: 10  - Juz: 27 - Page: 538
(25) We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Surah: Al-Ḥadīd - Verse: 25  - Juz: 27 - Page: 541
(2) It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah; but [the decree of] Allah came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision.
(3) And if not that Allah had decreed for them evacuation, He would have punished them in [this] world, and for them in the Hereafter is the punishment of the Fire.
(4) That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allah - then indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
(5) Whatever you have cut down of [their] palm trees or left standing on their trunks - it was by permission of Allah and so He would disgrace the defiantly disobedient.
Surah: Al-Ḥashr - Verse: 2-3-4-5 - Juz: 28 - Page: 545
(11) Have you not considered those who practice hypocrisy, saying to their brothers who have disbelieved among the People of the Scripture, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allah testifies that they are liars.
(12) If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided.
(13) You [believers] are more fearful within their breasts than Allah. That is because they are a people who do not understand.
(14) They will not fight you all except within fortified cities or from behind walls. Their violence among themselves is severe. You think they are together, but their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason.
Surah: Al-Ḥashr - Verse: 11-12-13-14 - Juz: 28 - Page: 547
(1) O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth, having driven out the Prophet and yourselves [only] because you believe in Allah, your Lord. If you have come out for jihad in My cause and seeking means to My approval, [take them not as friends]. You confide to them affection, but I am most knowing of what you have concealed and what you have declared. And whoever does it among you has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way.
Surah: Al-Mumtaḥanah - Verse: 1  - Juz: 28 - Page: 549
(4) Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a [single] structure joined firmly.

(11) [It is that] you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know.
(12) He will forgive for you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. That is the great attainment.
(13) And [you will obtain] another [favor] that you love - victory from Allah and an imminent conquest; and give good tidings to the believers.
Surah: Aṣ-Ṣaff - Verse: 10-11-12-13 - Juz: 28 - Page: 552
