Supplication upon hearing the crowing of a rooster and the braying of a donkey - Hisn al-Muslim

إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ فَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نَهِيقَ الْحِمَارِ فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ رَأَى شَيْطَانًا (1).

🔤 Transliteration

Itha sami'tum siyaha al-diyakati fas'alu Allaha min fadlihi; fa innaha ra'at malakan, wa itha sami'tum nahiqa al-himari fata'awwadhu billahi min al-shaytani; fa innahu ra'a shaytanan.

🌐 English Translation

When you hear the crowing of a rooster, ask Allah for His bounty, for it has seen an angel. And when you hear the braying of a donkey, seek refuge with Allah from Satan, for it has seen a devil.
