Supplication for the deceased during the funeral prayer - Hisn al-Muslim

1/4 ❀

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ، وَعَافِهِ، وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ، وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ، وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ، وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ، وَنَقِّهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الْأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ، وَأَبْدِلْهُ دَارًا خَيْرًا مِنْ دَارِهِ، وَأَهْلًا خَيْرًا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ، وَزَوْجًا خَيْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِ، وَأَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ [وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ] (1).

🔤 Transliteration

Allahumma-ghfir lahu warhamhu, wa 'aafihi, wa'fu 'anhu, wa akrim nuzulahu, wa wassi' mudkhalahu, wagh-silhu bil-maa'i wath-thalji wal-baradi, wa naqqihi minal-khataaya kamaa naqqaytath-thawbal-abyada minad-danasi, wa abdilhu daaran khayran min daarihi, wa ahlan khayran min ahlihi, wa zawjan khayran min zawjihi, wa adkhilhul-jannata, wa a'idhhu min 'adhaabil-qabri [wa 'adhaabin-naari].

🌐 English Translation

O Allah, forgive him and have mercy upon him, and grant him well-being and pardon him, and honor his resting place, and make his entrance wide, and wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him of his sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth, and give him a home better than his home, and a family better than his family, and a spouse better than his spouse, and admit him into Paradise, and protect him from the punishment of the grave [and the punishment of the Fire].

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا، وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا، وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا، وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا، اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ، وَلَا تُضِلَّنَا بَعْدَهُ (1).

🔤 Transliteration

Allahumma-ghfir li-hayyina wa-mayyitina, wa-shahidina wa-gha'ibina, wa-saghirina wa-kabirina, wa-dhakarina wa-unthana. Allahumma man ahyaytahu minna fa-ahyihi 'ala al-Islam, wa man tawaffaytahu minna fa-tawaffahu 'ala al-iman. Allahumma la tahrimna ajrahu, wa la tudillana ba'dahu.

🌐 English Translation

O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whomever You keep alive among us, keep him alive upon Islam, and whomever You cause to die among us, cause him to die upon faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward, and do not lead us astray after him.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ فُلَانَ بْنَ فُلَانٍ فِي ذِمَّتِكَ، وَحَبْلِ جِوَارِكَ، فَقِهِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ، وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ، وَأَنْتَ أَهْلُ الْوَفَاءِ وَالْحَقِّ، فَاغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ (1).

🔤 Transliteration

Allahumma inna fulana bna fulanin fi dhimmatika, wa habli jiwarika, faqihi min fitnatil-qabri, wa adhabin-nari, wa anta ahlul-wafa'i wal-haqqi, faghfir lahu warhamhu, innaka antal-ghafurur-rahim.

🌐 English Translation

O Allah, indeed so-and-so, the son of so-and-so, is under Your protection and in the bond of Your neighborhood, so protect him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of the Fire. You are the Lord of faithfulness and truth. So forgive him and have mercy on him. Indeed, You are the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ احْتَاجَ إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ، وَأَنْتَ غَنِيٌّ عَنْ عَذَابِهِ، إِن كَانَ مُحْسِنًا فَزِدْ فِي حَسَنَاتِهِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مُسِيئًا فَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ (1).

🔤 Transliteration

Allahumma 'abduka wa-bnu amatika ihtaja ila rahmatika, wa anta ghaniyyun 'an 'adhabihi, in kana muhsinan fazid fi hasanatihi, wa in kana musee'an fatajawaz 'anhu.

🌐 English Translation

O Allah, Your servant and the son of Your maidservant is in need of Your mercy, and You are free from needing to punish him. If he was righteous, then increase his good deeds, and if he was sinful, then pardon him.
