Word Meanings:

  • Marji'ukum (مَرْجِعُكُمْ): Your return and final destination.
  • Wa'dan Haqqan (وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقًّا): A true and certain promise from Allah that will undoubtedly come to pass.
  • Yabda'u al-Khalq (يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ): He originates creation, bringing it into existence from nothing.
  • Yu'eeduhu (يُعِيدُهُ): He will bring it back to life after death.
  • Bil-Qist (بِالْقِسْطِ): With perfect justice and fairness.
  • Hameem (حَمِيمٍ): Boiling, scalding water that has reached the extreme limit of heat.

Explanation of the Verse:

O humanity, know with certainty that your ultimate destination is not this fleeting world, but your Lord alone. To Him—and to no other—is your final return on the Day of Judgment, when all of creation, from the first to the last, will be gathered before Him. This is not a mere possibility or an empty hope; it is a true promise from Allah, the One who never breaks His word. He has decreed it, and His decree is absolute and irrevocable.

Reflect on the power of your Creator: He is the One who begins the creation of every being without any prior example or model. He brought you into existence from nothing, and just as He originated you with ease, He is fully capable of bringing you back to life after your death. The resurrection is not a difficulty for Him; it is as simple as the first creation, for His command is but "Be," and it is.

Why does He do this? For a profound and just purpose: so that He may recompense those who believed in Him, in His messengers, and in the Day of Judgment, and who followed their faith with righteous deeds. His recompense to them will be with perfect justice—He will not diminish a single good deed, nor will He overlook any of their sincere efforts. They will receive the best of rewards, for His justice is coupled with His immense bounty and mercy.

As for those who rejected faith—who denied the oneness of Allah and the message of His messengers—their fate is grim indeed. For them is a drink of boiling water that has reached the utmost degree of heat, which will sear their faces and tear apart their intestines. And beyond that, they will face a painful, agonizing torment that never ceases. This is not an injustice from Allah; it is the direct consequence of their own persistent disbelief and their rejection of the truth that was made clear to them.

A Call to Reflection:

This verse is a beautiful reminder that life is not a game without purpose. You were created with intention, and you will return to your Creator for a decisive reckoning. Let this certainty fill your heart with hope if you are among the believers who strive in good deeds—for your Lord's justice guarantees that no effort of yours is ever wasted. And let it serve as a wake-up call for those who have turned away: the door of repentance is open, and your Lord is Most Merciful, ready to forgive and transform your fate from one of boiling water to one of eternal bliss. Do not wait until the return becomes a reality you can no longer change. Return to Allah now, and let your life be a journey toward His pleasure—for to Him is your return, and His promise is true.

📜 Verse 2-6 — Yunus

Have the people been amazed that We revealed [revelation] to a man from among them, [saying], "Warn mankind and give good tidings to those who believe that they will have a [firm] precedence of honor with their Lord"? [But] the disbelievers say, "Indeed, this is an obvious magician."
Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne, arranging the matter [of His creation]. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Then will you not remember?
To Him is your return all together. [It is] the promise of Allah [which is] truth. Indeed, He begins the [process of] creation and then repeats it that He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds, in justice. But those who disbelieved will have a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment for what they used to deny.
It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light and determined for it phases - that you may know the number of years and account [of time]. Allah has not created this except in truth. He details the signs for a people who know
Indeed, in the alternation of the night and the day and [in] what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are signs for a people who fear Allah
