Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Tasbeeh (تُسَبِّحُ): To declare Allah free from all imperfections, deficiencies, and anything unworthy of His majesty.
  • Bihamdihi (بِحَمْدِهِ): Glorifying Him while also praising and thanking Him — combining exaltation with gratitude.
  • Tafqahoon (تَفْقَهُونَ): To comprehend, grasp, or understand deeply.

Explanation of the Verse:

This magnificent verse opens a window into the unseen reality of the universe, inviting every believer to reflect deeply on the world around them. Allah, the Exalted, declares that the seven heavens, the earth, and every being within them — from the angels and humans to the jinn and all creatures — continuously glorify and praise Him. This is not a mere metaphor or poetic imagery; it is a profound truth that the entire creation is alive with the remembrance of its Lord.

The verse then expands this truth to an astonishing degree: there is not a single thing — whether animate or inanimate, whether a towering mountain, a flowing river, a tiny ant, or even the creaking of a door — that does not glorify Allah with His praise. Every atom in existence is engaged in the constant worship of its Creator, declaring His perfection and thanking Him for His blessings.

However, Allah then reveals a humbling limitation of human perception: "But you do not comprehend their glorification." We hear the rustling of leaves, the chirping of birds, the roar of thunder, but we do not perceive the spiritual reality behind these sounds. Their glorification is not in human language, and our senses are too limited to grasp this universal worship. This is a gentle reminder that the world is far more profound than what our eyes see and ears hear — there is a hidden dimension of existence that calls us to humility and wonder.

The verse concludes with two of Allah's beautiful attributes: He is Ever-Forbearing (Haleem) — He does not hasten to punish those who disobey Him, giving them time to repent and return to Him — and Ever-Forgiving (Ghafoor) — He forgives the sins of those who turn to Him in sincere repentance.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, when you stand beneath the open sky and gaze at the stars, when you walk through a forest and hear the birds, when you watch the waves of the sea — know that you are surrounded by millions of voices praising your Lord. The entire universe is a mosque, and every creature is a worshipper. Will you remain silent among them? Will you be the only one in this vast creation who does not remember its Creator?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that even the mountains and trees greeted him when he passed by them. The stones would greet him with peace. This is the reality this verse unveils — that creation is alive with the remembrance of Allah.

Let this verse transform your relationship with the world around you. When you see a beautiful sunset, remember that it is glorifying its Creator. When you hear the rain, know that it is praising Allah. And most importantly, join this universal chorus of praise with your own tongue and heart. Say: "SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi" (Glory be to Allah and all praise is to Him) — and become part of this magnificent symphony of worship that never ceases, day or night.

Allah's forbearance and forgiveness are your greatest hope. He does not punish you immediately for your shortcomings; He waits for you, inviting you to repent. His door of forgiveness is always open. So return to Him, glorify Him, and let your heart find peace in the remembrance of the One who created you and loves you more than a mother loves her child.

📜 Verse 42-46 — Al-Isra

Say, [O Muhammad], "If there had been with Him [other] gods, as they say, then they [each] would have sought to the Owner of the Throne a way."
Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity.
The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.
And when you recite the Qur'an, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition.
And We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Qur'an, they turn back in aversion.
