Word Meanings:
- Alam aqul (أَلَمْ أَقُلْ): "Did I not say" — a gentle reminder of a previous statement.

Explanation of the Verse:
Here, Al-Khidr gently reminds Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) of what he had already warned him about at the very beginning of their journey together. He says: "Did I not tell you that you would not be able to bear with me patiently?" This is not a rebuke of harshness, but rather a compassionate acknowledgment of human nature. Al-Khidr knew that Musa's noble character — his instinct to correct what seems wrong and his protective nature — would make it extremely difficult for him to watch actions that appeared harmful or unjust without intervening. The verse highlights the wisdom of Al-Khidr's earlier warning and the reality of the test that Musa faced. It also teaches us an important lesson: sometimes, true patience requires trusting someone else's knowledge and wisdom, even when we do not fully understand their actions. This is a profound reminder that our limited perception cannot always grasp the greater divine wisdom behind events.
Reflection and Guidance:
This verse carries a beautiful lesson for every believer. It reminds us that in our journey of faith, there will be moments when we are asked to trust Allah's plan even when we cannot see the full picture. Just as Musa was tested with patience, we too are tested in our daily lives — in our relationships, our careers, and our worship. The key is to remember that Allah's wisdom is far greater than our understanding. When we face situations that seem confusing or difficult, let us hold firm to our trust in Allah, knowing that every trial is an opportunity for growth and every moment of patience is a seed of reward. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "How wonderful is the affair of the believer! Indeed, all of his affairs are good for him. If something good happens to him, he is grateful, and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he is patient, and that is good for him." So let us embrace patience as a shield and trust in Allah as our guide, for indeed, with every hardship comes ease.
