Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Rasool (رسول): A messenger sent by Allah with a divine mission to convey His message to the people.
- Ameen (أمين): Trustworthy, faithful, and reliable — one who delivers the message exactly as revealed, without any addition, omission, or distortion.
Explanation of the Verse:
Prophet Lut (peace be upon him) addressed his people with these profound words: "Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger." This statement carries immense weight and meaning. He was declaring that he had been sent by Allah Almighty Himself, and that he was utterly faithful in conveying the divine message. He neither added anything to it nor omitted anything from it, nor did he distort its meaning. His trustworthiness was not merely a claim — it was a reflection of his entire character, known to his people long before his prophethood. They knew him as an honest and upright man, and now he was calling them to the same truthfulness in their relationship with their Creator.
This verse comes in the context of Lut's call to his people, who were steeped in immorality and corruption. He was reminding them that his mission was not for personal gain, power, or status. Rather, he was a faithful bearer of a divine trust, calling them to purity, righteousness, and the worship of Allah alone. His message was clear: fear Allah, obey His commands, and abandon the sinful practices that had consumed their society.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, ponder deeply upon the character of the prophets. They were the most trustworthy of all people, and their message was always for the benefit of humanity. Prophet Lut's words echo across time, reminding us that true guidance comes from Allah alone, and that those who convey His message are the most sincere and honest of people. The prophets never asked for any reward from their communities — their only reward was with their Lord, the Lord of all the worlds.
This verse invites us to examine our own relationship with the truth. Are we trustworthy in conveying what we know to be right? Do we accept the message of Allah with sincerity and act upon it? The call of Lut is the call of all prophets: to submit to Allah, to purify our hearts, and to live lives of integrity and honesty. Let us embrace this beautiful message and strive to be among those who listen to the truth and follow it, for that is the path to success in this life and the Hereafter. May Allah guide us all to the straight path and make us among His righteous servants.
