Word Meanings:

  • Hudan (هُدًى): Guidance, direction, and clarification that leads to the truth and away from error.
  • Bushrā (بُشْرَىٰ): Glad tidings, joyful news, and the promise of a good reward.
  • Lil-Mu'minīn (لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ): For the believers—those who have sincere faith in Allah and His messengers.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse describes the Quran as a source of guidance and glad tidings exclusively for the believers. The guidance here means that the Quran directs people to the straight path—the path of success in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. It illuminates the way out of darkness, ignorance, and misguidance, leading them to what is right and just. As for the glad tidings, they are the promises of Allah’s reward, mercy, and Paradise for those who believe and act upon what the Quran teaches.

The believers mentioned here are those who:

  • Accept the truth with certainty and sincerity, affirming what the Quran brings.
  • Establish the five daily prayers perfectly, fulfilling all their conditions, pillars, and obligations.
  • Pay the obligatory charity (Zakat) to those who are entitled to it.
  • Have firm conviction in the Hereafter, with all its rewards and punishments, and live their lives accordingly, knowing that their deeds will be weighed and recompensed.

Thus, the Quran is not merely a book to be read; it is a living guide that transforms hearts and lives. For those who embrace it with faith and practice it with devotion, it brings peace in this world and the ultimate joy in the next.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse is a beautiful invitation for you. The Quran is not a book of burden—it is a mercy. It guides you to the best of paths and gives you glad tidings that fill your heart with hope. Imagine a life where you are never lost, never confused, and never without purpose. That is what the Quran offers you. And the glad tidings? They are not just for the Hereafter—they are for now. When you believe and act, you feel a tranquility in your soul, a light in your heart, and a direction in your steps. Open your heart to this divine message, and you will find that Allah has prepared for you goodness beyond your imagination. The door of guidance is open, and the glad tidings are waiting for you. Will you not take that step of faith?
