Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Qarār: A firm, settled place; a stable resting ground.
  • Khilālahā: In the midst of it; within its interior.
  • Rawāsī: Firm, immovable mountains that anchor the earth.
  • Ḥājiz: A barrier or separator that prevents two things from mixing.

Tafsir (Explanation):

After presenting the blessings of hearing, sight, and guidance in the previous verses, Allah now poses another profound rhetorical question to awaken the human conscience. He asks: Is the one who has made the earth a stable and settled dwelling place for you—so that it does not shake or tremble beneath your feet—worthy of worship, or are the false deities you associate with Him? He placed within the earth flowing rivers that bring life, sustenance, and beauty to your lands. He set upon it towering mountains as firm anchors, stabilizing the ground and protecting it from excessive movement. And He placed between the two seas—the salty and the fresh—an invisible yet powerful barrier, so that the saltwater does not corrupt the freshwater, and each remains in its designated balance.

Then comes the striking question: "Is there a deity with Allah?" Who among all the idols, stones, or beings you worship has done any of this? Who else possesses such power, wisdom, and mercy? The answer is self-evident: none. Yet, most of the disbelievers do not know—they do not reflect upon these signs, nor do they grasp the greatness of their Creator. Had they truly known, they would never have turned to false gods.

This verse invites every human being to pause and look at the world around them. The earth beneath your feet is a miracle of stability; the rivers that quench your thirst are a mercy; the mountains that stand firm are a protection; and the barrier between the seas is a sign of divine precision. All of this points to one undeniable truth: there is no god but Allah. He alone deserves your worship, your gratitude, and your love. So open your heart to this truth, and let the signs of His creation lead you to the light of faith.

📜 Verse 59-63 — An-Naml

Say, [O Muhammad], "Praise be to Allah, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allah better or what they associate with Him?"
[More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].
Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but most of them do not know.
Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember.
Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allah? High is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
