Explanation of the Verse:
After the incident in which Musa (peace be upon him) unintentionally killed a Coptic man while defending an Israelite, he found himself in the city of Pharaoh the next morning in a state of deep fear and vigilance. He was watching his surroundings, anxious about whether the news of the killing had spread, and whether the authorities would come after him. His heart was heavy with worry, and he was bracing himself for whatever might come.
While he was in this tense state, suddenly the very same Israelite who had sought his help the day before appeared again, crying out to him for assistance against another Coptic man who was attacking him. At this, Musa (peace be upon him) addressed him with words of rebuke, saying: "Indeed, you are clearly a misguided person." He meant by this that this man was persistent in causing trouble and conflict, for he had been the cause of the previous incident that led to a man's death, and now he was again embroiled in another fight, dragging Musa into yet another dangerous situation.
A Call to Reflection and Guidance:
This verse carries profound lessons for every believer. It shows us the reality of this life — that even the most noble and righteous of Allah's prophets faced fear, uncertainty, and difficult circumstances. Yet Musa (peace be upon him) did not lose his faith or his trust in Allah. He remained steadfast, and Allah did not abandon him.
Notice how the Israelite man kept falling into the same pattern of conflict, and how Musa, despite his frustration, did not refuse to help him. This teaches us the importance of patience with those who err, and the virtue of standing by the oppressed even when they make mistakes.
At the same time, the verse gently warns us against being the cause of trouble for others, and against repeatedly placing ourselves — and others — in harmful situations. The believer is called to be a source of peace and goodness, not of discord and hardship.
And above all, this story reminds us that no matter how dark the night of fear and uncertainty may seem, the dawn of Allah's relief is always near for those who put their trust in Him. Let us learn from Musa's example: when fear grips your heart, turn to Allah; when trials surround you, remember that He is the Best of Protectors.
