Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Jawāb (جواب): Response, answer, or reply.
  • Harriqūhu (حرّقوه): Burn him (in fire).
  • Anjāhu (أنجاه): Saved him, rescued him.
  • Āyāt (آيات): Signs, proofs, miracles, or lessons.

Tafsir (Explanation):

When Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) called his people to worship Allah alone and abandon their idols, he presented them with clear arguments and undeniable proofs. Yet, instead of reflecting on his message or engaging in reasoned debate, his people had no answer except violence and tyranny. Their only response was to shout among themselves: "Kill him!" or "Burn him!" — as if extinguishing the truth by extinguishing the one who carried it.

They gathered wood, built a massive fire, and threw Ibrahim into it. But Allah — the Almighty, the All-Powerful — did not abandon His faithful servant. He commanded the fire to be cool and safe for Ibrahim, and thus the Prophet emerged unharmed, untouched by the flames. This was not magic or coincidence; it was the direct intervention of the Lord of the worlds, Who has absolute power over all creation. Fire burns by His permission, and it withholds its harm by His command.

In this miraculous deliverance, there are profound signs and lessons for those who truly believe. For the believers, this event strengthens their certainty that Allah never abandons those who trust in Him, even when the whole world turns against them. It teaches that no matter how fierce the opposition, Allah's protection is greater. It also demonstrates that truth cannot be destroyed by fire, swords, or any worldly force — for the truth is upheld by Allah Himself.

This story carries a timeless message for every generation: those who call to goodness and monotheism may face hostility, persecution, and even threats of death. But the believer's heart remains firm, knowing that Allah is the Best Protector. Just as He saved Ibrahim from the fire, He can save His sincere servants from every hardship in ways they never imagined. So let this be a source of hope and courage — never fear the creation, for the Creator is with you. And let it be a reminder that faith is not merely words, but a trust in Allah that transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary miracles.

📜 Verse 22-26 — Al-'Ankabut

And you will not cause failure [to Allah] upon the earth or in the heaven. And you have not other than Allah any protector or any helper.
And the ones who disbelieve in the signs of Allah and the meeting with Him - those have despaired of My mercy, and they will have a painful punishment.
And the answer of Abraham's people was not but that they said, "Kill him or burn him," but Allah saved him from the fire. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
And [Abraham] said, "You have only taken, other than Allah, idols as [a bond of] affection among you in worldly life. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another and curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will not have any helpers."
And Lot believed him. [Abraham] said, "Indeed, I will emigrate to [the service of] my Lord. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
