Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Atlu: Recite, follow, and convey what has been revealed.
  • Al-Fahsha': Immoral acts, lewdness, and sins that are severely reprehensible.
  • Al-Munkar: Everything that is rejected by sound nature and Islamic law; all that is evil and forbidden.
  • Dhikr Allah: The remembrance of Allah, including prayer, glorification, and all acts of worship.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Prophet, recite and act upon what has been revealed to you from this Qur'an, and establish the prayer perfectly, fulfilling all its conditions, pillars, and etiquettes. Indeed, the prayer, when performed with sincerity and devotion, restrains the one who observes it from falling into immoral acts and evil deeds. This is because the prayer instills light in the heart, strengthens faith, and deepens the connection between the servant and his Lord. When a person stands before Allah five times a day, humbling himself and seeking His pleasure, his soul becomes purified, his desire for good increases, and his inclination toward sin weakens or disappears altogether.

The remembrance of Allah is greater and more virtuous than everything else. It is the highest act of worship, for when a servant remembers his Lord, Allah remembers him in return, as He has promised: "So remember Me; I will remember you" (Al-Baqarah: 152). The prayer itself is a form of remembrance, and the reward for remembering Allah is the remembrance of Allah Himself—a blessing that surpasses all worldly matters.

And Allah knows everything you do, whether it is good or evil. Nothing is hidden from Him, and He will recompense you fully and justly: if you do good, you will be rewarded with good, and if you do evil, you will be held accountable for it.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear believer, this verse is a beautiful reminder that the prayer is not merely a ritual—it is a protective shield for your soul and a source of inner peace. When you stand in prayer, you are not just moving your body; you are nourishing your heart with the light of faith. Let the prayer be your refuge from sin and your bridge to Allah's mercy. And never underestimate the power of remembering Allah—it is the key that opens the doors of tranquility and success in this life and the Hereafter. So hold fast to the Qur'an, establish your prayer, and let your heart be always connected to your Creator, for He knows all that you do and will reward you in ways beyond your imagination.

📜 Verse 43-47 — Al-'Ankabut

And these examples We present to the people, but none will understand them except those of knowledge.
Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth. Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.
Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.
And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture believe in it. And among these [people of Makkah] are those who believe in it. And none reject Our verses except the disbelievers.
