Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • "Yā ʿIbādi" (O My servants): A direct, affectionate address from Allah to the believers, emphasizing His closeness and care for them.
  • "Arḍī wāsiʿah" (My earth is spacious): The earth is vast and full of places where one can live and worship Allah freely.
  • "Fa-iyyāya faʿbudūn" (So worship Me alone): Devote your worship exclusively to Allah, with sincerity and without associating partners with Him.

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse is a direct call from Allah to His believing servants, especially those who were facing hardship and persecution in Mecca for their faith. Allah tells them: If you find yourselves in a situation where you cannot openly practice your religion, worship Allah, or live according to your beliefs, then do not despair. My earth is wide and spacious—so migrate to a land where you can worship Me freely and live in peace. Leave behind the places of oppression and hardship, and seek out environments where your faith can flourish.

The verse emphasizes that the ultimate purpose of migration (hijrah) is not merely to escape hardship, but to establish the worship of Allah alone. The command "so worship Me alone" is the core message: wherever you go, whatever circumstances you face, your primary duty is to worship Allah with sincerity, without compromise or associating partners with Him. This worship includes prayer, obedience, and living a life that pleases Him.

Allah also reassures the believers that He is the Provider and Sustainer. If they leave their homes and livelihoods for His sake, He will provide for them wherever they go. The earth is filled with His provisions, and no place is outside His care. This is a powerful reminder that trust in Allah should overcome fear of poverty or loss.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a timeless message of hope and resilience for every believer. It teaches us that no matter how difficult our circumstances may seem—whether we face oppression, social pressure, or the inability to practice our faith—there is always a way out. Allah's earth is vast, and He has placed goodness in many places. Do not let fear of the unknown or attachment to worldly comforts hold you back from seeking a life where you can worship Allah freely and with dignity.

It also reminds us that true freedom lies in servitude to Allah alone. When we dedicate our lives to Him, we find peace, purpose, and provision in ways we never imagined. So, dear believer, if you ever feel constrained in your faith, remember this divine call: "O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship Me alone." Take the step of faith, trust in Allah's promise, and He will never abandon you.

📜 Verse 54-58 — Al-'Ankabut

They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbelievers
On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them and from below their feet and it is said, "Taste [the result of] what you used to do."
O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me.
Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned.
And those who have believed and done righteous deeds - We will surely assign to them of Paradise [elevated] chambers beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers
