Tafsir (Explanation):
Among the magnificent signs of Allah’s power and absolute sovereignty is that He shows you the lightning flashing across the sky, combining within it two opposite emotions: fear and hope. You fear the destructive thunderbolts that may follow, yet you simultaneously hope for the life-giving rain it heralds. Then, by His mercy, He sends down water from the sky — rain that revives the earth after its barrenness and drought, causing plants to sprout and the land to flourish once more. This cycle of death and revival is not a random occurrence; it is a profound testimony to Allah’s perfect power, His exquisite wisdom, and His boundless kindness toward His creation.
Indeed, in this remarkable phenomenon — the lightning, the rain, the revival of dead land — there are clear proofs and undeniable signs for people who possess sound intellects and use their reasoning to reflect. Such people recognize that the One who revives the dry earth is fully capable of resurrecting the dead on the Day of Judgment for reckoning and recompense. The same power that brings life to barren soil will bring life to the bodies of humanity from their graves.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, look at the sky when the clouds gather and the lightning flashes. In that moment, your heart trembles with fear and leaps with hope simultaneously. This is not a coincidence — it is your Lord introducing Himself to you through His creation. He who controls the storm and the rain is the same Lord who controls your life and your death, your beginning and your end. So let this sign draw you closer to Him. Let the rain that revives the earth remind you of the mercy that awaits those who turn to Him in sincerity. And let the revival of the land reassure you that your own resurrection is just as certain — and just as easy — for the One who created the heavens and the earth. Open your mind, reflect with your heart, and let these signs lead you to the truth of Islam and the beauty of submission to your Creator.
