Translation — Tafsir
Meanings of Key Words:
- "Manamukum" (مَنَامُكُم): Your sleep.
- "Wa ibtigha'ukum min fadlih" (وَابْتِغَاؤُكُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ): Your seeking of His bounty (i.e., your striving for livelihood and provision).
Tafsir (Explanation):
Among the magnificent signs of Allah’s absolute power and unique divinity is the sleep He has granted you—whether by night or by day. Sleep is a profound mercy: it brings rest to your bodies, relieves your fatigue, and renews your energy after the toil of work and the struggles of daily life. And just as He gave you sleep for rest, He also gave you the day—a time when you spread out across the earth, moving about in search of His bounty, striving for lawful provision, and building your lives.
Indeed, in this perfect alternation of night and day, in the way sleep overtakes you and wakefulness returns to you, and in the way your needs are met through your efforts, there are clear proofs and undeniable signs for people who listen with hearts open to reflection and minds willing to accept the truth. These are not random occurrences; they are deliberate acts of a Wise and Merciful Creator who manages all affairs with perfect precision.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, pause for a moment and think: Have you ever wondered why sleep comes upon you so naturally, or why you wake up refreshed after a night's rest? Have you ever considered how your body knows when to rest and when to rise, or how your daily search for provision is woven into the very fabric of your existence? These are not accidents—they are divine gifts, placed in your life as gentle reminders of your Creator. Allah, in His infinite mercy, did not leave you without signs; He filled your ordinary days with extraordinary proofs of His existence and care.
So open your ears—not just the ears of your head, but the ears of your heart. Listen to the rhythm of your own breathing, the cycle of your sleep, and the movement of your day. Every single moment is a call to recognize your Lord, to thank Him, and to draw closer to Him. Islam is not a distant religion of abstract beliefs; it is a living faith that finds its evidence in every blink of your eye and every step you take. Embrace this truth, and let your sleep and your waking, your rest and your work, all become acts of worship by simply acknowledging the One who made them all possible.
