Word Meanings:

  • Al-Mundhareen (المنذرين): Those who were warned — the nations and peoples who received warnings from their messengers but rejected them.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Messenger, and O every reader of this Qur'an — look with your heart and reflect with your mind upon the fate of those who were warned. These were the nations to whom Allah sent His prophets with clear warnings, calling them to monotheism, righteousness, and the worship of Allah alone. Yet they turned away in arrogance and persisted in disbelief and denial.

What was their end? It was utter destruction and severe punishment. Some were seized by a mighty blast, others were drowned, others were swallowed by the earth, and others were struck by devastating storms. Their palaces became ruins, their power turned to weakness, and their names became lessons for humanity. They entered the Fire, remaining therein forever — a consequence of their stubborn rejection of the truth.

The verse calls upon us to open our eyes to history, not merely as stories of the past, but as living signs for the present. Every ruined civilization, every vanished empire that once defied the messengers of Allah, stands as a silent witness to the truth of Allah's promise.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, this verse is not just a historical account — it is a mirror held before every generation. If those who were warned and still disbelieved met such a fate, then what of those who have received the final warning through the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

Yet Allah, in His infinite mercy, has kept the door of repentance open for you. He does not hasten punishment; He gives you time to return to Him. So look at the fate of the warners' opponents, and let it move your heart to gratitude for the blessing of Islam. Let it inspire you to hold firmly to the rope of Allah, to follow His messengers, and to be among those who not only hear the warning but respond to it with faith and righteous deeds.

For indeed, the end of the believers is Paradise, just as the end of the rejecters is the Fire. Choose wisely, for your choice today shapes your eternity tomorrow.

📜 Verse 71-75 — As-Saffat

And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
And We had already sent among them warners.
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
But not the chosen servants of Allah.
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
