Explanation of the Verse:
This verse paints a vivid and sobering picture of the Day of Judgment — a day when every soul will finally see the truth with complete clarity, but for many, it will be too late. Allah warns us here of a moment when a person will cry out in utter devastation: *"Oh, my grief! Alas for what I neglected in the matter of Allah!"* — meaning, how I fell short in obeying His commands, in fulfilling His rights, and in seizing the opportunities of good deeds that were presented to me in the worldly life.
The soul will then add, with even deeper shame: *"And indeed, I was among those who mocked!"* — admitting that not only did they neglect their duties, but they went further and ridiculed the religion of Allah, His messengers, His Book, and His righteous servants. They laughed at the truth, belittled the believers, and took the matters of faith lightly — and now, on that Day, the laughter has turned into endless sorrow, and the mockery has become a source of burning regret.
This verse is a profound call to every human being: do not wait until that moment of irreversible loss. The door of repentance is open now, in this life, while the heart still beats and the breath still flows. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has given us this warning out of love — so that we may turn back to Him before we taste the bitterness of that regret.
Dear reader, imagine standing before your Lord and realizing that every moment you spent mocking the truth, every hour you wasted in heedlessness, every opportunity for good you ignored — all of it is now staring back at you like a mountain of loss. But today, right now, you have the chance to change that ending. You have the chance to be among those who weep in repentance now, rather than wail in regret later. Allah's mercy is vast, and His door of forgiveness is wide open. Do not let the mockers of this world influence you, and do not let your own negligence deceive you. Return to Allah with a sincere heart, and you will find Him waiting with forgiveness, love, and a reward beyond your imagination.
