Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Fākihah (فَاكِهَةٌ): Fruits, fresh produce, and delightful edibles of Paradise.
  • Kathīrah (كَثِيرَةٌ): Abundant, plentiful, beyond measure or count.
  • Min-hā ta'kulūn (مِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ): From which you eat — indicating direct, unrestricted access and enjoyment.

Tafsir (Interpretation):

This verse is a direct address to the blessed inhabitants of Paradise, assuring them of a lavish and eternal bounty. It tells them: "For you therein — in this magnificent Paradise you have earned through faith and righteous deeds — are abundant fruits of every kind, in endless variety and quantity. From these fruits, you eat freely, without restriction, without toil, without fear of depletion, and without any harm."

The emphasis on "many fruits" (fākihah kathīrah) highlights the generosity of Allah’s reward — not merely a single type or a limited portion, but a boundless cornucopia that satisfies every desire and delights every sense. The phrase "from which you eat" underscores the personal, immediate enjoyment: the fruits are not distant or inaccessible; they are placed before the believers, ready for their pleasure at any moment. This is a reward that never ends, unlike the fleeting and often imperfect fruits of this worldly life, which may spoil, disappoint, or be withheld.

This verse comes as a culmination of a broader description of Paradise, where the believers are told that they and their spouses will be honored, and that trays of gold and cups will be passed around them, containing all that souls desire and eyes find sweet. The fruits mentioned here are part of that holistic bliss — a physical and spiritual nourishment that reflects Allah’s infinite mercy and love for His righteous servants.

Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, pause and ponder this divine promise! Allah, the Most Merciful, does not merely describe Paradise as a distant hope — He paints it vividly for your heart, so that you may yearn for it and strive toward it. The fruits of Paradise are not like the fruits of this world, which require planting, watering, waiting, and may still rot or disappoint. They are ever-fresh, ever-abundant, and ever-available — a gift from the One who loves you more than a mother loves her child.

This verse invites you to ask yourself: *What am I doing today to reach these fruits?* Every prayer you offer, every kindness you show, every temptation you resist for Allah’s sake — these are the seeds that will bloom into that eternal orchard. The path to this bounty is open to all who turn to Allah with sincerity and follow His guidance. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world distract you from the everlasting delight that awaits. Embrace Islam with your whole heart, and let this promise ignite a passion within you for the ultimate success — the Paradise whose fruits are but a glimpse of the greater joy: the pleasure of Allah Himself.

📜 Verse 71-75 — Az-Zukhruf

Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
