Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "Uurithtumooha" (أُورِثْتُمُوهَا): You have been made to inherit it — meaning it has been granted to you and placed in your possession, just as an inheritance is transferred to its rightful heir.
  • "Bimaa kuntum ta'maloon" (بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ): Because of what you used to do — referring to your deeds of faith and righteousness in the worldly life.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse is a beautiful address from Allah to the people of Paradise, welcoming them into their eternal home. Allah tells them: "This is the Paradise that you have been made to inherit because of what you used to do."

The meaning is profound: Paradise has entered into your possession just as an inheritance enters the possession of its heir — not by your own power or merit alone, but by the grace and guidance of Allah. Your righteous deeds — your prayers, your charity, your patience, your truthfulness, your striving to please Allah — were the means by which Allah, out of His immense bounty and mercy, granted you this everlasting reward.

It is not that your deeds were equal in value to Paradise; rather, Allah, in His infinite generosity, accepted those deeds and multiplied their reward beyond measure. He made your faith and good works the pathway to His mercy, and then He honoured you with this magnificent inheritance that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine.

Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this glorious promise! Allah is telling us that the deeds we do in this short life — a kind word, a prayer in the depths of the night, a charity given secretly, a sin avoided for His sake — are not lost. They are being stored for us as treasures that will one day become our inheritance in an eternal garden of bliss.

What an honour! The Creator of the heavens and the earth calls you to be an heir of Paradise. He does not ask you for perfection; He asks you for sincerity and effort. Every step you take towards Him, He takes faster steps towards you. So do not despair of your shortcomings, and do not underestimate the value of even the smallest good deed. Keep striving, keep repenting, keep hoping in His mercy — for the inheritance of Paradise is within the reach of every believer who sincerely works for it. May Allah make us among those who inherit the highest gardens of Paradise, and may He grant us the sweetness of this promise in this life and the next. Ameen.

📜 Verse 70-74 — Az-Zukhruf

Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
