Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Furush (فُرُشٍ): Beds, couches, or furnishings spread out for comfort and rest.
- Marfoo'ah (مَرْفُوعَةٍ): Raised high, elevated, or lifted up.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this verse, Allah describes another blessing reserved for the People of the Right — the dwellers of Paradise: "And raised beds/couches." These are luxurious, elevated beds placed upon thrones and high seats, raised to honor their occupants. The elevation signifies both physical height — so that they may overlook their surroundings in dignity — and spiritual rank, as these beds are prepared for the honored guests of Allah. They are not ordinary beds; they are crafted with exquisite beauty, raised high to reflect the lofty status of those who recline upon them. The elevation also serves a practical delight: the believer can see the vast gardens, flowing rivers, and the company of loved ones from a position of honor and comfort. This imagery invites the heart to yearn for a reward that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind can conceive — a promise from the Most Merciful to His righteous servants.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, pause and reflect: if the beds of Paradise are raised high for the believers, how much more elevated will their ranks be in the sight of Allah? This single verse whispers a profound truth — that every sacrifice you make in this world for the sake of Allah, every night you spend in prayer, every tear you shed in repentance, every hardship you endure with patience, is being exchanged for a comfort and honor that transcends anything this fleeting world can offer. The One who created the heavens and the earth has prepared for His righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined. So, do not let the temporary pleasures of this world deceive you. Strive for that raised bed, for that eternal honor, and know that the path to it is paved with faith, good deeds, and sincere devotion. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Allah says: 'I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has conceived.'" So, hasten to the mercy of your Lord, and let your heart long for that elevated dwelling where peace, joy, and honor are everlasting.
