Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ (Lā Maqṭūʿah): Not cut off, not ceasing, not coming to an end at any time or season.
- وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ (Wa Lā Mamnūʿah): Not forbidden, not withheld, not prevented from reaching those who desire it.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse describes the fruits of Paradise that the people of the Right Hand will enjoy. These fruits are described with two eternal qualities that set them apart from the fruits of this world:
First, they are not cut off — meaning they never come to an end, nor do they disappear with the change of seasons. In this worldly life, fruits are available only in their specific seasons; when the season passes, the fruit is gone. But in Paradise, the fruits are perpetual and everlasting. They do not diminish, nor do they cease to exist at any moment. The believer can enjoy them at any time, in any place, without any interruption.
Second, they are not forbidden or withheld — meaning nothing prevents the believer from reaching them. In this world, there are many barriers: distance, cost, scarcity, or even the hands of others who may take them first. But in Paradise, no such barriers exist. There is no guardian to stop you, no price to pay, no limit to how much you can take, and no one who can take them away from you. The moment you desire a fruit, it is there for you, freely and completely.
This is a glimpse of the boundless generosity of Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) toward His righteous servants. He does not merely give them fruits — He gives them fruits that are eternal in their abundance and freely accessible without any condition or restriction.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Imagine a life where every fruit you love is always in season, always within reach, and never runs out — no matter how much you take. This is but one small detail of the delights that await the believers in Paradise. Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) has prepared for His servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived. This promise should fill every believer's heart with hope and longing, and motivate us to strive in obedience to Allah, knowing that the reward is not temporary or limited — it is eternal, complete, and beyond imagination. Let this verse remind you that the pleasures of this world are fleeting and often accompanied by restrictions, but the pleasures of the Hereafter are perfect and unrestricted. So invest your short life in what leads to everlasting joy, and never trade the eternal for the temporary.
