📖 English Meaning
Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allah, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it," while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Liqaa' Allah (Meeting with Allah): The resurrection and standing before Allah for judgment.
  • As-Sa'ah (The Hour): The Day of Resurrection, so named because of the swiftness of the reckoning.
  • Baghtah (Suddenly): Without any prior warning or anticipation.
  • Hasratana (Our regret): Deep sorrow, remorse, and grief over missed opportunities.
  • Farratna (We neglected): We fell short and failed in our duties.
  • Awzar (Burdens): Sins and transgressions.
  • Yazirun (They carry): They bear the weight of their deeds.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Indeed, those who denied the meeting with Allah and rejected the reality of resurrection have incurred a tremendous loss—a loss beyond any worldly failure. They lived their lives in denial, mocking the promise of their Lord, until the Hour descended upon them all of a sudden, without any warning. At that terrifying moment, when the truth became undeniable and escape was impossible, they cried out in utter anguish: "Oh, our regret! How we squandered our lives! How we neglected what truly mattered!" They lamented the years wasted in disobedience and the opportunities lost to prepare for this inevitable day.

Yet, their regret comes too late. They now carry the heavy burdens of their sins upon their backs—an overwhelming weight of wrongdoing that they must bear. What an evil burden it is! What a wretched load they carry into their eternal reckoning! Their sorrow cannot undo what has passed, and their cries cannot lighten the weight they now bear.

This verse serves as a profound wake-up call for every soul. The Hour will come suddenly—no one knows when. But Allah, in His infinite mercy, has given us the gift of time *now* to turn back to Him, to seek His forgiveness, and to prepare for that meeting. Do not wait until regret becomes useless. The doors of repentance are open today; the path to Paradise is clear. Seize this moment before the moment seizes you, for the wise one is he who acts before the inevitable arrives, and the successful one is she who invests her fleeting days in what pleases her Lord. Let this warning transform your heart into action—pray, give charity, seek knowledge, and love Allah—so that when you meet Him, it will be with joy, not with sorrow.

📜 Verse 29-33 — Al-An'am

And they say, "There is none but our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected."
If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will [then] say, "So taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve."
And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah, so will you not reason?
We know that you, [O Muhammad], are saddened by what they say. And indeed, they do not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allah that the wrongdoers reject.
