Explanation of the Verse:
O Prophet, leave those who have turned their religion into a mere game and pastime — mocking the verses of Allah and treating His signs with ridicule. The glittering attractions of this worldly life have deceived them, making them forget the Hereafter and their accountability before their Lord. Do not waste your effort on them; instead, focus on delivering the message.
And remind people through the Qur'an — warn them sincerely — so that no soul shall be handed over to destruction because of what it has earned. On that Day, a soul will find no protector besides Allah to rescue it from His punishment, nor any intercessor whose plea could save it. Even if it were to offer every possible ransom — the most precious treasure on earth — it would not be accepted from it. Such are those who have been surrendered to ruin because of their own deeds. For them, in the Fire, there is a drink of boiling, scalding water and a painful torment — all because they persisted in disbelief and rejected the truth.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
This verse is a profound reminder of the seriousness of our relationship with Allah. How often do we treat our faith lightly — postponing prayers, mocking sincere believers, or chasing the temporary glitter of this world while forgetting the eternal reality? The Qur'an is not a book to be recited for blessings alone; it is a living guide, a warning, and a mercy. Let this verse awaken your heart: no wealth, no status, no worldly achievement can ransom a single soul on the Day of Judgment. Only sincere faith and righteous deeds — performed in this life — will be our salvation. So turn to Allah now, before that Day arrives when no ransom will be accepted and no intercessor will avail. The door of repentance is open today; do not let the deception of this world close it upon you.
