📖 English Meaning
O you who have believed, be supporters of Allah, as when Jesus, the son of Mary, said to the disciples, "Who are my supporters for Allah?" The disciples said, "We are supporters of Allah." And a faction of the Children of Israel believed and a faction disbelieved. So We supported those who believed against their enemy, and they became dominant.

Key Words and Phrases:

  • Ḥawāriyyūn (الْحَوَارِيّون): The pure and sincere disciples of Prophet Jesus (ʿĪsā), peace be upon him, who were his closest and most devoted followers.
  • Man Anṣārī ilā Allāh (مَنْ أَنصَارِي إِلَى الله): "Who are my helpers in the cause of Allah?" — a call for those who would assist and support the mission of calling to Allah.

  • Ẓāhirīn (ظَاهِرِين): Victorious, triumphant, and prevailing over their enemies.

Explanation of the Verse:

O you who have truly believed in Allah and His Messenger and who act upon His commandments! Be supporters and defenders of Allah’s religion — the religion of Islam — just as the pure-hearted disciples of Jesus, son of Mary, responded to his call. When Jesus asked his people, "Who will stand with me and help me in calling to Allah and spreading His message?" the disciples answered with unwavering faith and immediate commitment: "We are the helpers of Allah! We will support His religion and stand by you."

This noble call and response divided the Children of Israel into two groups: a group that believed in Jesus as the servant and Messenger of Allah, and another group that rejected him and strayed into disbelief by claiming he was the son of God or a partner with Him. Allah then granted victory and divine support to the believers, strengthening them against their enemies, and they ultimately prevailed and became triumphant — and this victory was completed and perfected with the final mission of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who came with the ultimate truth for all of humanity.

A Daʿwah Reflection for the Believers:

Dear believer, this verse is a timeless call to you — a call that echoes through the centuries from the lips of Prophet Jesus to the ears of every sincere Muslim today. When Allah asks you to be His helper, He is not in need of your support, for He is the Self-Sufficient, the Almighty. Rather, it is a noble honor and a great privilege He grants you — to be counted among those who carry His message, defend His religion, and stand firm for His cause.

Look at the disciples of Jesus: they did not hesitate, they did not calculate the risks, they did not wait for easier times. They responded with immediate and sincere commitment: "We are the helpers of Allah!" And Allah honored them with victory and made them prevail over their enemies.

Today, the world is in desperate need of helpers of Allah — people who will stand for truth, justice, and mercy; people who will embody the beautiful teachings of Islam in their character and actions; people who will call others to goodness with wisdom and kindness. You can be one of them! Whether by your knowledge, your wealth, your time, or your beautiful example — every sincere effort in the path of Allah is a form of being His helper.

Allah’s promise is true and certain: whoever supports His religion, Allah will support him and make him victorious. So be among the helpers of Allah, and you will see His help and victory in your life, just as He promised the believers before you.

📜 Verse 12-14 — As-Saff

He will forgive for you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. That is the great attainment.
And [you will obtain] another [favor] that you love - victory from Allah and an imminent conquest; and give good tidings to the believers.
