Explanation of the Verse:
After commanding the believers to strive in His cause and promising them forgiveness and gardens of eternal bliss, Allah now mentions a second, additional blessing—one that is deeply cherished by the believers and brings them immense joy in this worldly life. This blessing is victory from Allah over their enemies, and a near conquest that will be achieved at their hands. This refers to the conquest of Makkah, which was a decisive and swift triumph granted to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions, fulfilling Allah’s promise of support and dominance for the truth over falsehood.
The verse then instructs the Prophet (peace be upon him) to give glad tidings to the believers—news that fills their hearts with hope and certainty: they will be granted victory and honor in this world, and the ultimate reward of Paradise in the Hereafter. This is a comprehensive promise that combines both the immediate, tangible success in this life and the eternal, everlasting success in the next.
A Call to Faith and Action:
Dear believer, reflect on the beauty of this divine promise! Allah does not merely command you to strive and sacrifice; He also assures you of His support and victory. He knows that your heart yearns for success, honor, and the triumph of truth—and He has placed these very desires within you, then promised to fulfill them when you stand firm in His cause. This is a sign of His immense mercy and love for His servants.
When you align your efforts with Allah’s command, you are not left alone. His help descends upon you, and the doors of victory open in ways you could never imagine. The conquest of Makkah was not achieved through sheer numbers or worldly power, but through the unwavering faith, patience, and obedience of a community that trusted Allah completely. And the same promise holds true for every believer who strives sincerely in His path—whether in personal struggles, in spreading goodness, or in defending the truth.
So let this verse be a source of hope and motivation. Do not be disheartened by challenges or delays, for Allah’s timing is perfect, and His promise is certain. Strive with sincerity, trust in His wisdom, and rejoice in the glad tidings He has given you: victory in this life for those who remain steadfast, and the eternal bliss of Paradise for those who believe and do righteous deeds. Indeed, Allah never breaks His promise, and He is the best of supporters.
