Tafsir (Interpretation):
O believers, exert your utmost effort and capacity in being conscious of Allah and obeying Him. Allah, in His infinite mercy, does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear—so fear Him to the best of your ability, in every moment and every action. This is a religion of ease, not hardship, and the door of repentance and striving remains open for every sincere heart.
Listen to the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with hearts that are attentive and receptive, and obey Allah and His Messenger in all that they command. Obedience is the path that leads to Allah's pleasure and to the gardens of eternal bliss.
And spend from the wealth that Allah has granted you—give in charity, support the needy, and invest in deeds that will return to you as treasure on the Day when no wealth or children will avail, except a pure heart. Whatever you spend for the sake of Allah is not a loss; rather, it is a gain for your own soul, a provision that you send forth for your own salvation.
Know that the greatest barrier to this spending is the miserliness (shuḥḥ) that clings to the human soul—the greed that whispers to a person, "Hold on to what you have; you may need it." But whoever is protected from the miserliness of his own soul—and this protection is a great favor from Allah—then such people are the truly successful ones. They have achieved the ultimate victory: they have overcome their own lower desires, purified their hearts, and secured their place in the everlasting life. They are the ones who have attained every good and been saved from every evil.
So, dear believer, let this verse be a call to action: fear Allah within your capacity, listen and obey with sincerity, and spend generously—for in that spending lies the salvation of your soul and the key to eternal success.
