Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- "لَن يُجِيرَنِي" (lan yujīranī): "Will never protect me" or "will never grant me refuge/safety." It conveys the idea of being shielded from harm or punishment.
- "مِنَ اللهِ" (min Allah): "From Allah" — i.e., from His punishment, wrath, or decree.
- "مُلْتَحَدًا" (multaḥadan): A refuge, shelter, or hiding place — somewhere to escape to or lean upon for protection.
Explanation of the Verse:
O Prophet, say to those who call you to compromise or who threaten you: "Indeed, no one — no matter how powerful, influential, or close — can ever protect me from Allah's punishment if I were to disobey Him. And I will never find, besides Him, any refuge or shelter to flee to from His decree."
This is a declaration of absolute dependence on Allah alone. The Prophet ﷺ is affirming that his safety, his victory, and his very existence are entirely in Allah's hands. He does not rely on human alliances, tribal protection, or worldly power — because none of these can avail him against Allah's will. His only "refuge" is Allah Himself, and his only mission is to convey Allah's message faithfully.
The verse continues in spirit: whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, and turns away from the religion of Allah, their destiny is the fire of Hell — from which they will never emerge.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse is a profound lesson in *tawheed* (the oneness of Allah) and sincere reliance upon Him. The Prophet ﷺ, despite being the most beloved of creation to Allah, openly declared that he has no protector other than Allah. This teaches us that no status, wealth, lineage, or power can shield us from Allah's justice — and equally, no one can deprive us of His mercy if we turn to Him sincerely.
So, dear reader, let this be a reminder: place your trust in Allah alone. Seek refuge in Him, obey His commands, and follow His Messenger ﷺ. For whoever clings to Allah will find a protector that never fails, and whoever turns away will find no shelter from the consequences — in this life or the next. But the door of repentance is always open, and Allah's mercy is vast. Return to Him today, and you will find Him the Best of Protectors and the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.
