Explanation of the Verse:

After the previous verses established that Allah Himself guarantees the collection of the Qur’an in the Prophet’s heart and enabling him to recite it, this verse completes the divine promise: "Then, indeed, upon Us is its clarification." This means that Allah, in His infinite mercy, takes upon Himself the task of explaining and interpreting the Qur’an to His Messenger ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was not left to struggle alone in understanding the deep meanings, wisdom, and legal rulings embedded in the revelation. Rather, Allah guaranteed that He would make every ambiguous point clear, every hidden wisdom manifest, and every command or prohibition understandable—either directly through revelation or through the explanation given to the Prophet ﷺ, which he then conveyed to his Ummah.

This verse is a profound reassurance to every believer: the Qur’an is not a book left for human guesswork. Its Author, Allah, has pledged to explain it. The Prophet ﷺ received this explanation, and through his Sunnah (traditions) and the scholarly legacy of his companions, the meanings of the Qur’an have been preserved and transmitted to us. So when you read the Qur’an and find a verse difficult to grasp, know that Allah has already provided its explanation through authentic sources, and He invites you to seek that knowledge with sincerity.
