Surah Al-Qiyamah — Verse 30

• Al-Masaq (الْمَسَاقُ): The driving or herding of creation towards a destination; here it refers to the final journey of all beings to their Lord on the Day of Resurrection.

Tafsir (Explanation):

When the soul reaches the collarbone at the moment of death, and the dying person realizes that this is the final parting from this world, witnessing the angels of death, and the severity of this world's end meets the severity of the Hereafter's beginning — at that moment, the ultimate truth becomes clear: the destination of every soul is to Allah alone. On that Day, all of humanity will be driven to their Lord, whether they like it or not. There is no escape, no refuge, and no intermediary. The journey is inevitable, and the destination is either Paradise or Hellfire.

This verse serves as a profound reminder that our entire lives are but a brief journey toward an appointed meeting with our Creator. Every breath we take, every step we make, every choice we decide — all of it leads to that final gathering before Allah. The One who created us from nothing will bring us back, and to Him alone will we return.

Dear believer, let this verse awaken your heart! If you know that your final destination is your Lord, then why not prepare for that meeting while you still have time? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that the wise person is the one who holds themselves accountable and works for what comes after death. Today, you have the opportunity to turn to Allah in repentance, to increase in good deeds, and to beautify your character. Tomorrow, when the journey begins, there will be no time for preparation — only the journey itself. So seize this precious moment, for the road to Allah is open to you right now, and His mercy is greater than all your sins. Come back to Him before the day when you are driven to Him, and let that meeting be one of joy and honor, not of regret and loss.
