Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- "Shadadna asrahum" (شَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ): We strengthened and perfected their physical constitution—binding together their joints, limbs, and sinews with firmness and precision.
- "Amthalahum" (أَمْثَالَهُمْ): Their likes or counterparts—beings similar to them in form and nature.
- "Tabdeelan" (تَبْدِيلًا): A complete and total substitution or replacement.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this profound verse, Allah reminds humanity of His absolute power and sovereignty over all creation. He declares: "It is We who created them and strengthened their frame." This points to the intricate design of the human body—the way bones are joined, muscles are woven, and organs are interconnected in perfect harmony. Every joint moves with precision, every limb functions with purpose, and this entire system operates without our conscious effort. It is a testament to the wisdom and might of the Creator, who fashioned humans in the best of forms.
Then Allah continues: "And when We will, We can replace them with others like them." This is a direct warning and a demonstration of His complete authority. If humanity becomes arrogant, disbelieving, or rebellious, Allah is not dependent on them in any way. He can wipe out an entire generation and bring forth another that is obedient, submissive, and devoted to Him. The power to create, sustain, and replace belongs solely to Him. No one can resist His will, and no one can escape His decree.
This verse carries a dual message: it instills gratitude for the gift of life and physical strength, and it instills humility by reminding us that our existence is entirely in Allah's hands. We are not the masters of our fate; rather, we are servants of the Almighty, who can change our condition in the blink of an eye.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on the miracle of your own body. The way your heart beats without your command, the way your lungs expand and contract, the way your eyes see and your ears hear—all of this is a gift from Allah, who "strengthened your frame." Do you not owe Him gratitude and obedience in return?
And remember that this life is not permanent. Allah can replace you with others who are better than you in faith and deeds. So seize this moment, turn to your Lord with sincerity, and strive to be among those whom He loves—those who submit to Him willingly and worship Him with devotion. Do not let arrogance or negligence lead you to ruin, for Allah's power is absolute, and His mercy is vast for those who seek it. Let this verse be a wake-up call to live a life of purpose, gratitude, and submission to the One who created you and holds your destiny in His hands.
