Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- الْكَفَرَةُ (al-kafaratu): The plural form of "kafir," meaning those who disbelieve in Allah and reject His blessings and signs.
- الْفَجَرَةُ (al-fajaratu): The plural form of "fajir," meaning those who are wicked, immoral, and openly transgress Allah's limits.
Tafsir (Explanation):
On that Day of Judgment, the faces of the blessed will shine with light, radiant with joy and delight. But the faces of the wretched will be darkened and covered with dust and humiliation. Then Allah describes these people clearly: "Those are the disbelievers, the wicked." They are the ones who combined two terrible qualities: disbelief in Allah—rejecting His oneness, His messengers, and His revelations—and wickedness, meaning they openly committed sins, violated His sacred commands, and persisted in immorality without repentance. Their dark, dust-covered faces on that Day are the direct result of their arrogance in this world, their refusal to submit to the truth, and their indulgence in sin. They did not merely err; they deliberately chose the path of ingratitude and transgression, and now they face the consequence of their choice.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth: the faces that will be darkened with disgrace on that mighty Day belong to those who knew the truth yet turned away, who received countless blessings yet remained ungrateful, and who crossed every boundary in pursuit of their desires. How easy it is to drift into heedlessness, to become comfortable in sin, and to forget that every deed is recorded and every soul will be recompensed! But Allah, in His infinite mercy, has sent this warning so that you may wake up before it is too late. The door of repentance is open right now—turn back to your Lord with a sincere heart, seek His forgiveness, and strive to obey Him. Do not let yourself be among those who combine disbelief with wickedness. Instead, be among the believers whose faces will shine with the light of faith and the joy of Allah's pleasure. The choice is yours, and the time is now.
