Surah Al-Balad — Verse 7

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse addresses a person who boasts about his wealth and spending, saying proudly, "I have spent abundant wealth." The rhetorical question here strikes at the core of his arrogance: *Does he truly think that no one saw him?* Does he imagine that Allah—who sees all, knows all, and is never unaware of even the smallest deed—did not witness his actions, his motives, and the source of his wealth?

The verse exposes a profound spiritual blindness. This person acts as if he is unobserved, as if his spending and his life are hidden from any reckoning. Yet, the reality is that Allah sees everything, and on the Day of Judgment, he will be questioned about his wealth: where did he earn it from, and how did he spend it? Every coin, every intention, and every boast will be brought to account.

This is a gentle but firm awakening: do not let your pride in worldly possessions blind you to the ever-present gaze of your Creator. The One who created you, who sustains you, and who gave you that wealth is watching you right now. He knows the sincerity of your heart and the truth behind your words.
