Surah Yunus — Verse 109

• Wa-ttabi' — Follow and adhere to.

• Yaḥkuma Allāh — Allah passes His judgment/decree.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Messenger of Allah, Allah commands you to follow wholeheartedly the divine revelation that He sends down to you — the Qur'an and the wisdom it contains — and to act upon it in every aspect of your life. This is the path of guidance and success.

Then Allah commands you to be patient — patient in obeying His commands, patient in refraining from what He has forbidden, and patient in bearing the harm and hostility of those who oppose you as you convey His message. Do not be hasty or despairing when you see the disbelievers persisting in their rejection, for the outcome belongs to Allah alone.

Continue on this path of steadfastness and perseverance until Allah passes His judgment — whether it be granting you victory over your enemies in this world, or decreeing the matter of fighting, or reserving His justice for the Hereafter. For Allah is the Best of all judges: His judgment is absolute wisdom, His decree is perfect justice, and His decision is never wrong. He judges with complete fairness, and His rulings encompass both this life and the next.

So rest assured, O believer, that no matter how long the trial may seem or how heavy the burden of patience may weigh, Allah's judgment is near, and His justice is certain. The One who judges between His servants is the Most Just, the Most Wise — and His promise of victory for His righteous servants is true.

A Call to Reflection:

This verse carries a timeless message for every believer: hold firmly to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and be patient in the face of hardship. Patience is not weakness — it is the strength of those who trust in Allah's promise. When you face trials, remember that Allah sees your struggle, and His judgment is the best of all judgments. He never abandons those who remain steadfast upon His path. So take heart, for the end is for the righteous, and the victory of Allah is near.
