Word Meanings:
- Yanṣurunī (يَنصُرُنِي): Who will protect me, aid me, or defend me.
- Ṭaradtuhum (طَرَدتُّهُمْ): If I drive them away or expel them.
- Tadhakkarūn (تَذَكَّرُونَ): You reflect, take heed, or remember with your minds and hearts.
Explanation of the Verse:
Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) continues his sincere address to his people, saying: "O my people! Who will protect me from Allah's punishment if I were to drive away these believers?" He is making a powerful argument — if he were to expel the believers merely because of their faith, he would be committing a grave injustice that would invite Allah's wrath. And who among them could possibly shield him from that divine consequence? No one!
He then appeals to their intellect: "Will you not reflect?" This is a gentle yet profound call to reason. The Prophet is urging them to think deeply about the situation — that the believers are not a burden to be cast aside, but rather people of truth whose presence is a blessing. Driving them away would not only be wrong, but it would also bring destruction upon the entire community. The Prophet is teaching us that truth and justice must never be sacrificed for the approval of the powerful or the arrogant.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer and every caller to Islam. It teaches us the immense value of standing firm with the righteous, no matter how weak or few they may seem in the eyes of society. Prophet Nuh refused to compromise his principles even when pressured by the elite of his people. He chose Allah's pleasure over human approval, and he defended the believers with courage and wisdom.
Dear reader, reflect on your own life: Are there people whom society looks down upon, yet they carry faith and sincerity in their hearts? Do not be among those who reject or marginalize others based on wealth, status, or appearance. Allah judges by what is in the hearts, not by outward appearances. And remember — when you stand with truth and justice, Allah Himself becomes your protector. No power on earth can harm you when you are under His care. So be like Nuh: firm in truth, gentle in speech, and wise in argument. And always ask yourself: "Who will protect me from Allah if I abandon His commands?" The answer is clear — no one. So hold fast to His guidance, and you will find success in this life and the next.
