Explanation of the Verse:

This verse unveils one of the most intense moments of trial in human history — the moment when the wife of Al-Aziz, overcome by desire, made her intention clear and moved toward the Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) with full resolve. As for Yusuf, a natural human thought crossed his mind — a momentary inclination that any man in his position might feel — but it was no more than a fleeting thought, not a decision or an action. He did not pursue it, nor did he take a single step toward it.

What saved him was the "Burhan of his Lord" — a divine sign that Allah placed before his eyes at that critical moment. This sign was a powerful reminder that pulled him back from the edge, making him see the ugliness of the sin, the greatness of Allah, and the honor of his own prophethood. The scholars differ on the exact nature of this sign, but all agree that it was a clear, unmistakable proof from Allah that turned his heart away from the inclination and back to complete obedience.

Allah then explains the wisdom behind this divine intervention: "Thus, so that We might turn away from him evil and immorality." This was not just for that single moment — it was a comprehensive protection covering his entire life, guarding him from all forms of sin and preserving his purity for the great mission that lay ahead.

The verse concludes with a profound declaration: "Indeed, he was of Our chosen, purified servants." This is the ultimate testimony to Yusuf's character — he was not merely a man who resisted temptation through his own strength, but one whom Allah had purified, chosen, and elevated to the rank of prophethood precisely because of his sincerity and devotion.

A Call to Reflection:

This verse teaches us that even the most righteous among Allah's creation — a prophet, no less — could feel the pull of human desire. This is not a weakness; it is the very nature of being human. What distinguishes the righteous is not the absence of temptation, but how they respond when it comes. Yusuf's story shows us that Allah never leaves His sincere servants without a way out. When you truly seek His help, He places a "burhan" — a sign, a reminder, a way of escape — before you at the moment you need it most.

Dear reader, know that your struggle against sin is not a sign of failure; it is a sign of your humanity and your faith. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent." Your Lord is closer to you than your own veins, ready to guide you, protect you, and purify you — just as He did for Yusuf. Turn to Him sincerely, and He will never abandon you in your moment of trial.

📜 Verse 22-26 — Yusuf

And when Joseph reached maturity, We gave him judgment and knowledge. And thus We reward the doers of good.
And she, in whose house he was, sought to seduce him. She closed the doors and said, "Come, you." He said, "[I seek] the refuge of Allah. Indeed, he is my master, who has made good my residence. Indeed, wrongdoers will not succeed."
And she certainly determined [to seduce] him, and he would have inclined to her had he not seen the proof of his Lord. And thus [it was] that We should avert from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was of Our chosen servants.
And they both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they found her husband at the door. She said, "What is the recompense of one who intended evil for your wife but that he be imprisoned or a painful punishment?"
[Joseph] said, "It was she who sought to seduce me." And a witness from her family testified. "If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars.
