Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- خَزَائِنُهُ (its treasuries): The sources and means of all things, which are entirely in Allah's possession.
- بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (with a known measure): A precise, predetermined amount and timing set by Allah's wisdom.
Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse establishes a profound truth: there is not a single thing in existence—whether provisions, rain, life, death, health, knowledge, or any benefit—except that its treasuries lie solely with Allah. The word "treasuries" here means that Allah has complete power to create anything He wills, and nothing is outside His dominion or control. He is the Owner of all resources, and no one shares this ownership with Him.
Then Allah clarifies that He does not send down or grant anything from these treasuries except in a specific, measured quantity that His infinite wisdom dictates. He gives to whom He wills, withholds from whom He wills, and determines every matter according to His perfect knowledge of what benefits His creation. Nothing comes into existence randomly or without purpose; rather, every blessing, every trial, and every provision is precisely calibrated to suit the circumstances and needs of His servants.
This verse reassures the believer that Allah's mercy and wisdom govern all affairs. When a person receives little, it is because Allah knows that this is best for them; when they receive much, it is likewise from His bounty. The treasures are never depleted, and His giving never diminishes what He possesses. He alone decides the measure—whether small or large—based on His profound wisdom and vast mercy.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear believer, let this verse fill your heart with tranquility and trust in your Lord. When you see the rain falling, the fruits growing, or the sustenance reaching your hands, remember that these are but drops from the infinite treasuries of Allah. He who controls the treasuries of all things is the One who cares for you, knows your needs, and measures every gift with perfect precision. So turn to Him with gratitude when you receive, and with patience and hope when you are tested—for His wisdom is greater than your understanding, and His mercy encompasses all things. Let this certainty strengthen your faith and draw you closer to the One who holds everything in His hands.
