Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Athqalakum (أَثْقَالَكُمْ): Your heavy burdens and loads, such as goods, provisions, and belongings carried during travel.
  • Balighihi (بَالِغِيهِ): Reaching or arriving at that destination.
  • Shiqqil-anfus (شِقِّ الْأَنفُسِ): Extreme hardship, exhaustion, and severe difficulty that strains one’s strength and soul.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, in His infinite mercy, draws our attention to another profound blessing: the livestock He has created—such as camels, cattle, and other beasts of burden—carry your heavy loads and belongings to distant lands that you could never have reached on your own except with immense hardship and near-breaking exhaustion of your bodies and souls. Without these animals, transporting heavy goods across vast deserts and rugged terrains would have been virtually impossible, and you would have suffered unbearable fatigue and peril. This verse specifically highlights the camel, a creature uniquely designed for long journeys under harsh conditions, capable of enduring thirst, heat, and heavy burdens.

Indeed, your Lord is Most Compassionate and Most Merciful toward His creation. He did not leave you helpless in your travels and daily needs; rather, He subjected these animals to your service, making them gentle and obedient despite their immense strength. This is a clear sign of His tender care for humanity—He provides for your needs before you even ask, easing your struggles and granting you comfort. Reflect on this: the same Lord who carries your heavy loads across distant lands is the One who carries your sins when you turn to Him in repentance, and He is ever ready to forgive and guide you. So praise Him, thank Him, and draw closer to Him, for His mercy encompasses all things, and His kindness toward His servants knows no bounds.

📜 Verse 5-9 — An-Nahl

And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.
And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].
And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.
And upon Allah is the direction of the [right] way, and among the various paths are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.
