Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Khālidīna fīhā — remaining forever in it (the curse and the Fire).
- Lā yukhaffafu — not lightened or reduced in the least.
- Al-ʿadhāb — the punishment.
- Wa lā hum yunẓarūn — they are not granted any respite or delay.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse continues the description of those who conceal the truth and persist in disbelief until death, as mentioned in the preceding verses. Allah declares that such people will remain eternally in the curse of Allah and in the Fire of Hell — not for a limited period, but forever, with no end and no escape. Their punishment will never be lightened, not even for a single moment, nor will it be reduced in any way. They will not be granted any respite or delay — neither to offer excuses, nor to repent, nor to seek another chance. The doors of mercy will be firmly shut before them, and they will have no opportunity to plead their case or change their fate.
This is a severe and sobering warning that underscores the gravity of rejecting the truth after it has become clear, and of knowingly turning away from Allah's guidance. The permanence of the punishment reflects the permanence of their defiance and the depth of their injustice against themselves and against the message of Allah.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has kept the doors of repentance open for you in this life. You are not among those who have been sealed in their fate — you still have time, you still have breath, and you still have the opportunity to turn back to Him. Do not let the whispers of Shaytan deceive you into thinking that you can delay your return to Allah. The punishment described here is for those who die upon disbelief and hypocrisy — but you, right now, can choose a different path. Run to Allah with a sincere heart, seek His forgiveness, and hold firmly to His Book and the Sunnah of His Prophet ﷺ. For Allah's mercy is vast, and He loves those who repent and purify themselves. Do not wait until it is too late, for when death comes, no respite will be granted — but today, the door is wide open. Seize it before it closes.
