Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • أُوتِيتَ (ooteeta): You have been given/granted.
  • سُؤْلَكَ (su'laka): Your request, your asking, or that which you sought.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) responds directly to His Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) after Musa had made a heartfelt supplication, asking for the expansion of his chest, the ease of his task, the loosening of the knot in his tongue so people could understand his speech, and the support of his brother Harun as a helper.

Allah says: "He (Allah) said: 'Indeed, you have been granted your request, O Musa.'"

This is a profound moment of divine mercy and honor. Allah did not delay the answer, nor did He rebuke Musa for asking. Instead, He immediately affirmed that every single thing Musa had asked for was granted. This shows the immense love Allah has for His prophets and righteous servants, and how He responds to those who call upon Him with sincerity and need. It was a favor and a blessing from Allah upon Musa, confirming that his prayer was accepted in full, without omission or reduction.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a beautiful and inspiring lesson for every believer: Allah is near, He hears, and He answers. When Musa (peace be upon him) turned to his Lord with a sincere heart, seeking help for a noble mission, Allah granted him everything he asked for. Our Lord is Al-Mujeeb (The Responsive) — He does not disappoint those who call upon Him.

So, dear reader, never underestimate the power of du'a (supplication). Approach Allah with humility, certainty, and a pure heart, just as Musa did. Ask Him for what you need in your life — for guidance, strength, provision, and success in this world and the Hereafter. And know that when Allah grants your request, it is a sign of His love and care for you. Let this verse inspire you to strengthen your bond with Allah, for He is the One who gives without limit and answers without hesitation. Turn to Him, and He will never turn you away.
