Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Bina (بِنَا): with us, meaning Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), peace be upon them.
  • Basiran (بَصِيرًا): All-Seeing, fully aware and observant of all matters, nothing being hidden from His sight.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this closing supplication of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him), he acknowledges Allah’s perfect knowledge and sight over all his affairs and those of his brother. Musa had just asked his Lord for a series of favors: expansion of his chest (relief from anxiety), ease in his mission, eloquence of speech so that Pharaoh and his people would understand his message clearly, and the support of his brother Harun as a partner in prophethood and a helper in bearing the heavy burden of calling to Allah. After presenting these heartfelt requests, Musa concludes with this profound statement of trust: "Indeed, You have always been All-Seeing of us." This is an expression of complete reliance on Allah’s wisdom and care—acknowledging that Allah knows their strengths, their weaknesses, their sincerity, and their needs better than they know themselves. It is both a humble admission of dependence and a confident assurance that the All-Seeing Lord will grant what is truly best.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse teaches us a beautiful lesson in supplication: before asking, acknowledge Allah’s perfect awareness of your situation. When you call upon Allah, know that He sees your struggles, your tears in the night, your sincere efforts to please Him—just as He saw Musa’s trembling heart before Pharaoh. This awareness brings tranquility to the believer, for the One who hears your prayer is the same One who sees every detail of your life. Let this be a source of hope: if Allah answered Musa’s prayer for eloquence and support, He will surely answer your prayers too, for He is the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing, and His mercy encompasses all things. So raise your hands with certainty, for the One you call upon has never been unaware of your condition.
