Word Meanings:
- وَهُدُوا (wa hudū): They were guided and directed by Allah.
- الطَّيِّبِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ (al-tayyib min al-qawl): The pure and good speech — words that are wholesome, truthful, and pleasing to Allah.
- صِرَاطِ الْحَمِيدِ (ṣirāṭ al-ḥamīd): The path of the Praiseworthy One — meaning the path that leads to Allah, who is praised for all His actions and attributes.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this blessed verse, Allah tells us about the ultimate reward and honor bestowed upon the believers — those who were patient, humble, and devoted to their Lord. He says: "And they were guided to the purest of speech, and they were guided to the path of the Praiseworthy."
This means that in this worldly life, Allah guided them to the most beautiful and virtuous words — the words of *Tawheed* (the declaration that there is no god but Allah), words of praise and gratitude to Allah, and every utterance that is pure, sincere, and beloved to the Creator. They were not merely left to speak whatever they wished; rather, their tongues were trained to utter what is good, and their hearts were attached to the remembrance of their Lord.
Then, Allah guided them to the path of the Praiseworthy — the straight path of Islam, the religion that is praised by all who truly understand it, and the path that leads directly to Paradise. In the Hereafter, they will be guided to praise Allah for His beautiful ending for them, and they will enter His eternal bliss, where their final call will be: "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds."
This verse is a profound reminder that true guidance is a gift from Allah. No one can reach the pure speech or the straight path except by His mercy and grace. When a person sincerely seeks Allah, Allah honors them by guiding their words and their steps — making their speech wholesome and their destination Paradise.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, reflect on this beautiful promise! Allah does not only guide the believers to Paradise — He first purifies their speech and their conduct in this world. If you desire the sweetness of faith and the honor of being among the guided, then begin today by filling your tongue with the best of words: *Lā ilāha illā Allah*, *Alḥamdulillāh*, *SubḥānAllāh*, *Allāhu Akbar*. Let your speech be a reflection of your faith — kind, truthful, and free from harm. And walk firmly upon the path of Islam, the path that is praised by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, for it is the only road that leads to eternal success and the pleasure of the Most Merciful.
