Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse introduces the One who alone deserves all praise and worship — Allah, the Exalted. He is the sole Owner of the heavens and the earth, and everything within them. His dominion is absolute, with no rival, no advisor, and no one to share His authority. He has not taken a son, for having a child implies need, likeness, and division — all of which are impossible for the Perfect, Self-Sufficient Creator. This is a direct refutation of those who claim He has offspring, just as His exclusive kingship refutes those who associate partners with Him in worship.
Furthermore, He is the Creator of all things — every atom, every living being, every galaxy, and every unseen realm. Nothing exists except by His will and His command. And after creating, He precisely determined everything: He gave each creature its unique form, its suitable nature, its lifespan, its sustenance, and its purpose. Nothing in His creation is random, flawed, or without wisdom. From the tiniest ant to the vastest universe, everything operates according to a perfect, divine measure.
This verse calls us to reflect deeply: if Allah alone is the Owner of all, the Creator of all, and the One who perfectly designed all — then why would we turn to anyone else? Why would we fear a creation that is itself created and controlled? Why would we worship anything besides the One who holds everything in His hands?
The beauty of this verse is that it fills the heart with awe and tranquility at the same time. Awe, because we stand before a King whose dominion is limitless. Tranquility, because we know that nothing happens in this universe except by His perfect decree — and that whatever He has destined for us is precisely what we need, even if we do not always understand it. So place your trust in Him, submit to His will, and find peace in His perfect planning. For the One who created you with such precision will never abandon you or leave your affairs to chance.
