Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Hudā (الْهُدَىٰ): The true guidance, the right path that leads to salvation.
  • ʿĀqibat al-Dār (عَاقِبَةُ الدَّارِ): The ultimate outcome and final reward in the Hereafter—the abode of lasting life.
  • Al-Ẓālimūn (الظَّالِمُونَ): The wrongdoers, those who transgress against themselves and others by rejecting truth and committing injustice.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this noble verse, Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) responds to Pharaoh’s arrogant challenge and threats with a profound statement of certainty and trust in Allah. When Pharaoh accused Moses of sorcery and deception, Moses did not engage in futile argumentation or boastful claims. Instead, he turned the matter over to Allah’s perfect knowledge, saying: "My Lord knows best who has come with true guidance from Him, and who will have the best final abode."

Moses was essentially declaring: The matter is not settled by your claims, O Pharaoh, nor by my words alone. Allah, the All-Knowing, is fully aware of who is upon the truth and who is upon falsehood. He knows who has brought genuine guidance from His presence, and He knows whose end will be honorable and praiseworthy in the Hereafter. The ultimate victory belongs not to those who are powerful in this world, but to those whom Allah grants success in the eternal life to come.

Moses then sealed his statement with a universal truth: "Indeed, the wrongdoers will never succeed." This is a divine guarantee—a promise that no matter how much power, wealth, or influence the oppressors may amass in this temporary world, their efforts will ultimately be in vain. Their schemes will collapse, their falsehood will be exposed, and their end will be ruin, both in this life and in the Hereafter.

This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer: When faced with opposition, arrogance, or false accusations, we should not despair or resort to anger. Rather, we should place our trust in Allah’s knowledge and justice, knowing that He sees all and will settle all accounts with perfect fairness. The believer’s confidence lies not in worldly validation, but in the certainty that Allah’s promise is true—truth will prevail, and falsehood will perish.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, ponder the beauty of Moses’ response. He did not curse his enemy nor boast of his own merit. He simply affirmed that Allah knows the truth, and that the final victory belongs to the righteous. This is the character of the believer—calm, dignified, and anchored in faith. Let us adopt this attitude in our own lives. When people mock our faith, question our sincerity, or oppress us, let us remember: Allah knows who is upon guidance, and the wrongdoers shall never prosper. Hold firm to your faith, for the end of this journey is glorious for those who are patient and true. The Hereafter is the real life, and its success is the only success that truly matters.

📜 Verse 35-39 — Al-Qasas

[Allah] said, "We will strengthen your arm through your brother and grant you both supremacy so they will not reach you. [It will be] through Our signs; you and those who follow you will be the predominant."
But when Moses came to them with Our signs as clear evidences, they said, "This is not except invented magic, and we have not heard of this [religion] among our forefathers."
And Moses said, "My Lord is more knowing [than we or you] of who has come with guidance from Him and to whom will be succession in the home. Indeed, wrongdoers do not succeed."
And Pharaoh said, "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. Then ignite for me, O Haman, [a fire] upon the clay and make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses. And indeed, I do think he is among the liars."
And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.
