Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- ʿUluwwan (عُلُوًّا): Arrogance, haughtiness, or seeking superiority over others unjustly, and turning away from the truth out of pride.
- Fasādan (فَسَادًا): Corruption, mischief, or spreading harm and wrongdoing on earth, including oppression, injustice, and disobedience to Allah.
- Al-ʿĀqibah (الْعَاقِبَةُ): The final, praiseworthy outcome and ultimate reward.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this profound verse, Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) declares that the eternal Home of the Hereafter — Paradise, with all its everlasting bliss and honor — is reserved exclusively for those who do not seek arrogance or self-glorification on earth, and who do not desire to spread corruption and mischief among people. These are the souls who humble themselves before their Lord, who submit to the truth even when it goes against their desires, and who refuse to oppress, exploit, or harm others in any way.
The verse beautifully highlights that true success is not measured by worldly status, wealth, or power, but by the purity of one's heart and the righteousness of one's actions. Those who lower their wings of humility, who walk gently on this earth, and who strive to be a source of goodness and peace — they are the ones who will inherit the everlasting gardens of delight.
Then Allah concludes with a universal principle: "And the final outcome is for the righteous." This is a divine promise that the ultimate victory, in this life and the next, belongs to those who are mindful of Allah — those who fulfill His commands, avoid His prohibitions, and live their lives in conscious awareness of His watchful presence. They may face trials and tribulations in this temporary world, but their end is nothing but honor, joy, and eternal contentment in the presence of their Most Merciful Lord.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, let this verse be a gentle reminder that the heart that seeks elevation over others will find itself lowered, while the soul that humbles itself for the sake of Allah will be raised to the highest ranks. The world with all its glitter is fleeting, but the Hereafter is everlasting. So ask yourself: What is it that you truly desire? If you long for a home that never fades, a peace that never ends, and a happiness that knows no sorrow, then purify your heart from arrogance, cleanse your hands from corruption, and walk the path of righteousness. For indeed, the best of outcomes belongs to the God-conscious — and that is a promise from the One who never breaks His word.
