Meanings of Key Words:

  • Taṣuddūn (تَصُدُّونَ): You turn away, prevent, or hinder.
  • Tabghūnahā ʿiwajan (تَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا): You seek for it (the path of Allah) crookedness, distortion, or deviation from the truth.
  • Shuhadāʾ (شُهَدَاءُ): Witnesses — meaning you bear witness and know the truth with certainty.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Prophet, say to the People of the Book — the Jews and the Christians — as a rebuke and a call to accountability: "Why do you block the path of Allah — the religion of Islam — from those who have already believed and wish to follow it? Why do you seek to make it appear crooked and distorted, trying to turn people away from its straightness and truth? You do this while you are witnesses — you know with full certainty, from your own scriptures, that this religion is the truth and that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is sent as a messenger with clear signs confirming what is in your books. Your own knowledge testifies to the truth of what he brought, yet you still work to mislead others and turn them away from guidance."

And Allah is not unaware of what you do. He sees every action, every intention, every attempt to block His path. Nothing is hidden from Him — not your schemes, not your distortions, not your efforts to extinguish the light of truth. He has recorded all of it, and He will certainly recompense you for it in full.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: knowledge is a trust, and bearing witness to the truth is a responsibility. Those who know the truth and then turn others away from it — or even remain silent while others are misled — carry a heavy burden. But the door of repentance is always open. Allah, in His infinite mercy, calls His servants back to Him, forgiving all sins for those who sincerely turn to Him.

For the believer, this verse is a reminder of the preciousness of faith. The path of Allah is straight, clear, and beautiful — it leads to peace in this life and eternal bliss in the Hereafter. Do not let anyone turn you away from it, and do not let the attempts of others to distort the truth shake your certainty. Hold firm to the rope of Allah, for He is with those who believe, guiding them and protecting them.

And know that Allah is ever watchful. He sees your deeds, your struggles, and your sincerity. He never neglects the work of any doer of good — and He never overlooks the actions of those who seek to harm His path. So strive in goodness, call to the truth with wisdom and beautiful preaching, and trust that Allah's promise is true. He will never let the efforts of the righteous be wasted, and He will surely bring the truth to victory.

📜 Verse 97-101 — Aal-Imran

In it are clear signs [such as] the standing place of Abraham. And whoever enters it shall be safe. And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
Say, "O People of the Scripture, why do you disbelieve in the verses of Allah while Allah is Witness over what you do?"
Say, "O People of the Scripture, why do you avert from the way of Allah those who believe, seeking to make it [seem] deviant, while you are witnesses [to the truth]? And Allah is not unaware of what you do."
O you who have believed, if you obey a party of those who were given the Scripture, they would turn you back, after your belief, [to being] unbelievers.
And how could you disbelieve while to you are being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger? And whoever holds firmly to Allah has [indeed] been guided to a straight path.
