Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Jannāt al-Ma’wā: Gardens of Refuge — the eternal gardens where the believers will settle and find their final abode.
  • Nuzulan: A hospitality gift, a welcome offering prepared for a guest — signifying honour and generous reception.

Tafsir (Explanation):

As for those who truly believed in Allah with sincere hearts and followed that belief with righteous deeds — performing what He commanded and avoiding what He forbade — their reward is the Gardens of Refuge. These are eternal gardens prepared for them as a place of permanent settlement, where they will abide in bliss forever. This is described as *nuzulan* — a gracious hospitality extended to them by their Lord, just as a generous host prepares the finest welcome for an honoured guest. This reward is granted to them as a fitting recompense for their good deeds in this worldly life, purely out of Allah’s bounty and mercy, for even their best deeds could never fully repay His favours.

A Da’wah Reflection:

Dear believer, ponder the beauty of this divine promise! Allah, the Most Merciful, does not merely reward His believing servants — He welcomes them as honoured guests into His eternal Gardens. Imagine the scene: after a life of faith and patience, you are received with a hospitality that no earthly host could ever match. Every prayer you prayed, every charity you gave, every hardship you endured for His sake — none of it is lost. It is all transformed into an everlasting abode of peace and joy. This is the ultimate success that should fill every believer’s heart with hope and motivation. Let this verse inspire you to strengthen your faith and increase your good deeds, for the hospitality of Allah is far greater than anything this world can offer. The journey may be long, but the destination is beyond imagination — so strive, and never lose hope in the mercy of your Lord.

📜 Verse 17-21 — As-Sajdah

And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
Then is one who was a believer like one who was defiantly disobedient? They are not equal.
As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them will be the Gardens of Refuge as accommodation for what they used to do.
But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire. Every time they wish to emerge from it, they will be returned to it while it is said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny."
And we will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will repent.
