Surah An-Nisa — Verse 112

The first burden is the *buhtan*: a slander so vile and shocking that it stuns the listener. The second burden is the *ithm mubin*: a clear, undeniable sin that compounds the original wrongdoing. In essence, the person has not only failed to repent for their own sin but has added the crime of injustice against an innocent soul.

This verse was revealed in a specific context where a man attempted to shift blame for a theft onto an innocent Jewish man, even swearing a false oath to support his accusation.
