The Tafsir (Explanation):
Imagine a group of people secretly plotting to make the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ deviate from justice and truth in a particular judgment. They were cunning and persistent, but their schemes were doomed to fail from the very start. Why? Because Allah’s grace and mercy enveloped the Prophet ﷺ, protecting him from their evil designs. Had it not been for this divine favor, their whispers and attempts might have caused him to stumble, but Allah’s protection was absolute.
These plotters, in their arrogance, thought they could harm the Prophet ﷺ, but in reality, their efforts only harmed themselves. Their deception, lies, and attempts to mislead only increased their own sin and distance from Allah. They could not touch the Prophet ﷺ with even a speck of harm, because Allah had guaranteed his safety and the success of his mission.
This verse then turns to the immense blessings Allah bestowed upon His beloved Messenger ﷺ. Allah revealed to him the Qur'an—a complete and perfect guide for humanity—and the Hikmah, which is the Prophetic Sunnah that explains and details the Qur'anic teachings. Through this, Allah taught him what he did not know, granting him profound knowledge of divine laws, unseen matters, and the wisdom to judge with perfect justice.
Indeed, the favor of Allah upon the Prophet ﷺ was truly immense and beyond measure. It was a favor that combined divine protection, revelation, wisdom, and knowledge—a combination that established him as the final and greatest Messenger to all of mankind.
A Da'wah Reflection for the Believer:
This verse carries a powerful lesson for us all. Just as Allah protected His Prophet ﷺ from the schemes of his enemies, He also extends His protection to those who sincerely strive to follow His path. When you rely on Allah, no plot against you can succeed, and no harm can reach you without His permission. The enemies of truth may plan, but Allah’s plan is superior.
Moreover, the greatest favor you can seek is knowledge—knowledge of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Just as Allah taught the Prophet ﷺ what he did not know, He has left us with this divine revelation as a source of light and guidance. Embrace it, study it, and live by it. When you do, you will find that Allah’s grace upon you becomes manifest in ways you never imagined, protecting you, guiding you, and elevating you in this life and the next. Never underestimate the power of Allah’s favor—it is truly magnificent.
