📖 English Meaning
So fight, [O Muhammad], in the cause of Allah; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers [to join you] that perhaps Allah will restrain the [military] might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is greater in might and stronger in [exemplary] punishment.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Harrid (حَرِّضْ): Urge, encourage, and motivate.
  • Ba's (بَأْس): Might, power, strength, or the severity of warfare.
  • Tankil (تَنكِيل): Exemplary punishment, severe chastisement that serves as a deterrent to others.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Prophet, continue your struggle and fight in the cause of Allah to raise His word high, even if you stand alone. You are not held accountable for the actions of others, nor are you burdened with their failure to respond — your duty is only to give your own self fully to the cause. So do not let the reluctance or weakness of others deter you from your mission.

At the same time, stir the hearts of the believers, encourage them, and motivate them to join the fight. Remind them of the immense reward that awaits those who strive in Allah's path, and awaken in them the spirit of courage and sacrifice. Perhaps Allah will use your combined efforts to repel the might and aggression of the disbelievers and spare the believers from their harm.

And know with certainty that Allah's power is far greater than any force on earth. His strength is unmatched, and His punishment for those who reject the truth and oppress His servants is far more severe and devastating than anything they could ever inflict. So place your trust in Him, for victory comes only from Him.

A Call to the Reader:

This verse carries a timeless message of resilience and unwavering commitment. Even when you feel alone in your stand for truth, remember that Allah is with you, and your personal effort is never wasted. Do not wait for others to move before you take your step — be the spark that ignites the fire of faith around you. Encourage goodness, support righteousness, and trust that Allah's might is above all else. When you stand for Allah, even one person can change the course of history, for Allah's help is greater than any army, and His justice is swifter than any revenge. Let this verse inspire you to be steadfast, to be a motivator of good, and to place your complete reliance on the One whose power knows no limits.

📜 Verse 82-86 — An-Nisa

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.
And when there comes to them information about [public] security or fear, they spread it around. But if they had referred it back to the Messenger or to those of authority among them, then the ones who [can] draw correct conclusions from it would have known about it. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few.
So fight, [O Muhammad], in the cause of Allah; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers [to join you] that perhaps Allah will restrain the [military] might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is greater in might and stronger in [exemplary] punishment.
Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a reward therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a burden therefrom. And ever is Allah, over all things, a Keeper.
And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet [in return] with one better than it or [at least] return it [in a like manner]. Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant.
