📖 English Meaning
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.

  • Sulṭān – A clear authority, evidence, or divine proof.

  • Bālighīh – Reaching or attaining it (i.e., their goal).
  • Fastaʿidh – Seek refuge and protection.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse addresses a profound reality about those who oppose the truth without any valid basis. Allah tells us about people who argue against His signs and revelations—not with sound reasoning or divine authority, but with empty rhetoric and falsehood. They have no proof from Allah, no revealed scripture to support their claims, and no logical foundation for their rejection. Their arguments are built on nothing but stubbornness and a desire to defeat the truth, not to find it.

What drives them? Allah exposes the hidden motive: "There is nothing in their hearts but arrogance." It is not intellectual confusion or genuine doubt that leads them to dispute—it is pride. They cannot bear to submit to the truth because doing so would mean acknowledging that someone else has been favored with divine guidance. Their egos refuse to bow to what their hearts secretly know is right. This arrogance is like a disease that blinds them, making them fight against clear signs simply because they refuse to accept a reality greater than themselves.

Yet, Allah gives a powerful reassurance: "They will never reach it." Their goal—to extinguish the light of Allah, to elevate themselves above the truth, to defeat the message—will never be achieved. No matter how hard they try, arrogance cannot overcome divine truth. Allah humiliates the proud, and their schemes will only lead to their own loss. The truth stands firm, and their efforts to undermine it are as futile as trying to blow out the sun with their breath.

Then comes the divine command to the Prophet ﷺ and to every believer: "So seek refuge with Allah." When you encounter such people, when you face their hostility and their endless arguments, do not rely on your own strength or become entangled in their disputes. Turn to Allah, place your trust in Him, and seek His protection. He is the One who sees their plots, hears their words, and knows their hidden intentions. Nothing escapes Him—not their whispered conspiracies, not their public attacks, not the arrogance festering in their hearts.

This verse carries a timeless lesson for us all. When we see people mocking the truth, disputing against the Quran, or attacking Islam without knowledge or evidence, we should not despair or feel shaken. Their arrogance is their own undoing, and Allah’s promise is certain: they will not succeed. Our role is to stand firm, seek Allah’s refuge, and continue on the path of truth with patience and confidence.

And what a beautiful refuge that is! Allah is As-Samīʿ (the All-Hearing) who hears every word spoken against you and every prayer you raise to Him. He is Al-Baṣīr (the All-Seeing) who watches every move of your enemies and every effort you make in His cause. Nothing is hidden from Him, and He is fully capable of defending His religion and His righteous servants.

So, dear believer, take comfort in this verse. When the world seems full of noise and falsehood, when arrogant voices try to drown out the truth, remember that their end is already sealed. Seek Allah’s protection, hold firm to His guidance, and know that the One who hears and sees everything is with you. He will never abandon those who sincerely turn to Him.

📜 Verse 54-58 — Ghafir

As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding.
So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning.
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.
The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know.
And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember.
